Sunset Shimmer Strikes at Night

Once all the little ponies and their robot friends were safely asleep in their plush Crystal rooms, the castle became shrouded in stillness - the kind that only happens in the middle of the night. In the daytime, the castle was filled with light and reflections that danced with one another, creating rainbow prisms on everypony and bot who walked through its halls. But now everyone corner was met with a soft, eerie glow from the giant crescent-shaped moon. It flooded in through the glass windows and gave the whole place a super-spooky feeling. Luckily for the red-and-golden-maned Unicorn and the big greyish blue robot who now crept through the corridor, it was easy to hide in the shadows. They were careful to tread lightly on their hooves and pedes. Any sudden noise could wake just one pony - or dragon or bot - and ruin their entire mission. That yellow-and-pink Pegasus and red and black and black and red Mini-Cons looked like especially light snoozers. The last thing they needed was some scaredy-pony or bot causing a stir and messing everything up. No - this was far too important a task to risk messing up. It wasn't long before they found jus the room they were looking for. The quarters of the newly "royal" Twilight Sparkle and "safeguarder" Bumblebee. Now if only they could get past that sleeping baby dragon, Autobot and the princess herself... then everything they had ever wanted was within reach of their own little hooves and servos. And a mere few minutes' time. They pushed the heavy door, and it creaked open with a little resistance. The room was illuminated by the moonlight, just like the castle corridor. They quickly took stock of the sleeping forms of both the princess, the Autobot and the dragon. It was no easy task to remain their silence as they crept toward the bedside table. Towards their true destiny. The red-and-golden-maned pony used her magic to levitate the very object of her desire and move it over to her while the greyish blue robot just picked up the necklace silently. They looked even beautiful up close. Twilight Sparkle's glittering crown and Bumblebee's glowing blue necklace were going to be theirs. The job was almost done when, suddenly, the baby dragon rolled over, mumbling. The Unicorn and robot froze. The needed to be even more careful than they thought! That was a close one. Too close. They stayed still until a loud snore came from the Autobot's direction. It was the signal they needed to complete the deed. A wicked look flashed across their sweet golden and greyish blue faces. Their next move was swift. They gently placed an identical replica of the royal crown and glowing orb necklace in place of the original and sneaked back towards the door. But just as the Unicorn and robot tried to step over the restless dragon, their hoof and pede became caught in one of his arms. They immediately lost their balance and crashed to the floor, causing both the dragon, the Autobot and the princess to wake with a jolt! "Huh? What?" Spike said, rubbing his eyes sleepily. The golden Unicorn and greyish blue robot scrambled to their feet and hooves in a panic. As they galloped and ran towards the door, they stole a glance back at the confused Princess and Autobot. A ray of moonlight shone onto the mysterious pony and robot and glinted off the stolen items that they were shoving in their bags. Twilight sucked in her breath in pure shock. "My crown and your necklace, Bumblebee! They've got my crown and your necklace!" She cried into the night, stirring Bumblebee from his sleep. He leapt into robot mode and aimed his guns. "Halt!" He cried. Twilight jumped into action and leaped out of bed, Spike and Bumblebee following close behind. As they chased the thieves down the hall, Twilight and Bee were filled with a sense of dread. What would happen if they couldn't catch that bot or pony? They shouldn't have been so careless and left the precious crown and necklace like that! What would Celestia and Optimus say? Twilight knew she wasn't fit to be a princess yet, if ever. They just had to catch that Unicorn and robot or risk everypony and bot finding out how truly unroyal or safeguarding they were. As they gained ground, running as fast as their hooves and pedes would carry them down the hallway, Twilight and Bumblebee got a better look at the thieves. The pony and robot in question had a mane the colours of fire and a cutie mark to match plus a lot of greyish blue armor. The cutie mark was in the shape of a sun. Twilight and Bumblebee didn't recognise them at al, but that didn't mean much. They had met so many new ponies since the coronation that sometimes it was difficult to keep track of them all. "Halt! In the name of the Elite Guard!" Bumblebee yelled aiming his guns again. "Stop! Thieves!" Twilight shouted in desperation into the darkness. The commotion must've woken everypony and bot in the castle, because doors on either side of the hallway started to burst open. Applejack, Rarity, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie and their robot friends, who had been keeping watch, all emerged from the respective rooms, looking sleeply. "They've stolen our crown and necklace!" Bumblebee cried to his teammates as he and Twilight sped past them, with Spike two steps behind. The ponies and bots barely had time to register what he'd said.  They dutifully took off in the direction of the thieves as well, hoping that they could help. They're friends were in trouble! Bumblebee and Twilight didn't understand where this Unicorn or robot was going. The golden pony and greyish blue bot turned and galloped and ran through the corridors without any hesitation whatsoever. They obviously knew their way around the castle and had a specific destination in mind. Maybe there was a secret exit? Or a hiding place? Twilight and Bumblebee kept up their speed, hoping at the very least that a member of the Crystal Royal Guard would soon step in. But a moment later, Twilight and Bee saw that there was no need for that. The Unicorn and robot burst through the double doors of the last room at the end of the hall, and Bumblebee and Twilight knew that this was it. The Unicorn and bot were cornered. In fact, they were unicornered! "Stop!" Bumblebee shouted as he and Twilight entered the room, their friends coming up close behind them. "You have nowhere to run now!" The Unicorn and bot's face turned to panic as they realised there were now six ponies, a dragon and a bunch of bots against them. They clambered up onto the windowsill, looking back at their pursuers. The Unicorn and bot faltered, tripping over their own hooves and feet. Their faces fell as the bag with the crown and necklace inside flew through the air. The precious Element of Harmony and Cybertronian relic were headed for a massive mirror. Everypony and bot watched, completely frozen in place. But instead of crashing into the glass as they expected it to, the bag disappeared the moment it made contact with the mirror. It was just... gone! Applejack and Grimlock gasped. "How did that -?" "What did you do with our crown and necklace?!" Bumblebee exclaimed, thoroughly confused. The golden Unicorn and greyish blue bot stood up and smirked wickedly at all the stunned Ponyville ponies and Iacon Autobots. "Sorry it had to be this way, Princess and Lieutenant," The thieves sneered before diving through the mirror themselves. The ponies and bots turned to one another in shock. A pony and a bot walking through a solid object? They'd seen a lot of unbelievable things in Equestria and on Cybertron, but nothing like this. Finally, Fluttershy broke the silence. "Who was that?" she whispered. It was what they were all thinking. But it was a question that nopony or bot knew the answer to. Sideswipe and Grimlock looked at each other and shrugged, Strongarm, Jetstorm, Slipstream, Fixit and Drift exchanged puzzled glances and Bumblebee and Twilight looked on in shock and awe.
