"A battle! Great idea!" Mason cheered.
Amy and Chris looked at each other and smirked evilly.
"Alright, first battle is Chris versus Mason!" Amy declared.
Mason glared at her brother and Amy, but stepped into a cleared space, probably made for new trainers to have battles.
Chris got in his position and they glanced at Amy.
"I will be the referee! This will be a one on one battle. First side to knock out the opponents Pokèmon wins!" Amy said.
"Go Oshawott!" Yelled Mason. She threw the pokèball and out popped Oshawott. It made a saluting sign at Mason. "Osha wott wott!"
"Snivy, I choose you!" Chris threw his pokèball. Snivy appeared in a flash of red light. It crossed its arms, a confident smirk on its face. "Snivy Sni."
"Go Tepig!" Called Amy. Her Tepig appeared, looking up at her with its wide black eyes. "I want you to watch this battle and learn," Amy explained.
"Tep!" Tepig sat beside her, watching the battle begin.
"Hurry Snivy, use Leer!" Chris commanded, pointing at Oshawott for extra emphasise. Snivy glared at Oshawott. It stumbled back slightly, lowering its defense.
"Quick Oshawott, Tackle!" Mason yelled. Oshawott quickly recovered. It charged forwards to Snivy, who's eyes where fixed on it.
"Dodge it!" Snivy jumped out of the way just in time. Oshawott ran past. It whipped around facing Snivy.
"Leer!" Snivy glared again.
"Tackle!" Oshawott tackled again, landing a hit. Snivy stood up from the dirt, glaring at Oshawott.
"Tackle!" Chris said.
Snivy slammed into Oshawott. The water-type tottered around before collapsing in a heap on the dirt.
"Oshawott is unable to battle. Snivy wins!" Amy called.
A scientist approached, spraying each Pokèmon with a potion. "Keep them healthy," He said, leaning on a fence to watch the next battle.
Chris grinned and turned to Amy. "You're turn to get whooped!"
"As if!" Amy snorted.
The two took their positions.
"One on one, blah blah blah, battle!" Mason called.
"Tepig, use Tail Whip!" Amy commanded. Tepig turned around, shaking its tail quickly back and forth.
"Snivy, tackle!" Snivy ran at Tepig. It sat still, staring at the approaching Pokèmon.
"Now!" Tepig charged forwards, also using tackle, into Snivy.
It stood for three seconds before collasping.
"Wha-" Chris started.
"I studied your battle style. The nearer the Pokèmon, the more damage is dealt," Amy interrupted.
"Well done!" The scientist had come over again. He healed the Pokèmon, before allowing the kids to start their last battle.
"Amy versus Mason! One on one battle. First Pickle to knock out the opponents Pokèmon wins!"
Mason and Amy chuckled, while the Scientist grinned.
"Was it something I said?" Chris muttered, confused.
"You said Pickle," Mason answered.
"Sorry. Still half asleep... Anyways, start the battle!"
"Tail Whip!" The two girls cried at the same time. Both Pokèmon obeyed, wagging their tails and lowering the opponents defense.
"Tackle!" Mason said to Oshawott. Oshawott charged forward. It was getting close to Tepig.
"Now!" Both girls cried together.
Amy looked surprised as Tepig charged torwards Oshawott, but it jumped over Tepig's head.
"Tackle!" Mason yelled.
Oshawott slammed into Tepid from behind. The Pokèmon fainted.
"Tepig is unable to battle, Oshawott wins!"
The scientist healed their Pokèmon one last time.
"Congratulations. Each of you has won one battle," He said.
Once he was done healing the Pokèmon, he went inside. Snivy, Oshawott, and Tepig were returned.
"That was fun! Route one, here we come!" Mason declared happily as they headed into the grass.
