I was woken up by my mother gently cooing me awake "wake-up Kat, time to get ready for the ball" I gave her a slight smile and stretched, I sat up in bed and pulled down the covers and slowly stepped down, I discarded of my night gown and started to untie my white dress, I was planning to put it on until my mother pulled my corset around my waist, I groaned as she started to tighten it, once all the claps were all secured she helped me put the dress over my head, I must admit it looked better with the corset, but it still hurt a lot, after the dress was adjusted and poofed out at the skirt I slipped on a pair of plane silver slippers what clicked when I walked along the hardwood floor, I walked over to my small jewellery box and unclasped the clip, I opened it and a slow lullaby started to play I retrieved my silver chain with the rose pendant I brought from the market firmly around my neck it hung quiet low and sat on top  of my bosom, my mother then began to comb out my wild blond locks and pile them gently on top of my head I pulled down a few whips so they could frame my face, I didn't bother with darkening my eyes with charcoal and painting my face like they do In France, it it the new trend that I did not find appealing to myself, so instead I just pinched my cheeks to give off a natural blush, I gave myself a once-over in the mirror and noticed that it looked really chilly outside so I retrieved my red cloak from the wardrobe and set it over my head and down onto my shoulders, my mother steps back and smiled she had tears in her eyes I smiled at her and helped her get dressed, she dressed in a lovely lavender colour gown with dark blue embroidery she twisted her hair into an intricate bun and put on the necklace that my father got her for their anniversary the previous year "you look lovely mother I only hope to look like you when I'm older" I complemented and I did really mean it my mother was stunning, she still got the men at the markets to turn their heads, This one time when I was little this man was sitting on a pile of hay and my mother walked passed, he kept spinning around to look at her but the hay bale collapsed and he fell into the straw, thinking about it now makes me laugh, that day was a good day my family and I were all going to the town's annual picnic me and my siblings all got into some sort of mischief and our parents were running round like headless chickens after us it was funny when mother caught me and Katherine sticking our fingers in the cake and licking all the cream off our fingers, Katherine was my partner in crime I followed her everywhere she was the leader between the two of us, the bravest of us and how I missed her, she was more than my sister, she was my best friend the one I told my darkest secrets to, she helped me clean up messes that could get me into trouble and she took the blame for things she didn't even do, I idolised her and miss her very much I swear I will get revenge if it's the last thing I do.

Sorry this is a short chapter but I made this chapter short because the next chapter is going to be very long and effect Katerina a lot.
