"I'm going to kill both of you! Dad can you please remove them from the team? " Adam sounded annoyed and he was blushing a lot.
"Baby I'm just worried about you!" The first boy added.
"James shut up! He is mine! " The second boy grabbed Adam.
"Elliot back off, James shut up!" Adam pushed them both away and looked at me. He smiled at me and my breath got caught in my throat and I was about to choke until he spoke.
"I'm sorry I hit you with the door earlier and now you are tending to my wounds. Cate this is my father Dave and my best friends Elliot and James. I had no choice, they kind of picked me and threatened to kill me with their stupidity." When Adam said that James and Elliot both started crying into each other shoulders.
"How could you say that peaches! You said FOREVER!" James screamed at him. The two bickered at Adam and I couldn't help but laugh.
"Cate can we leave? Coach says that he wants to make sure you are okay by the way." Alex said coming up behind me and slinging his arm around me. My brother was three inches taller than me, but yet he acted like he was a giant. Brothers.
"Hold your horses, go talk to your girlfriend. " I wanted to talk to Adam before he become another stranger like everyone else I have met.
"Okay, we are leaving in 10 then. Hurry up!" Alex pissed me off sometimes, but I loved him because at the end of the day he is the only person who has stood by me. Besides my best friend of course.
"Elliot and James, I'm leaving to go and talk to Cate before you scare her out of my life okay? Good." Adam pushed them off of him and grabbed my hand.
"So Jake and you seem to have some kind of past?" Adam questioned and I got lost in those blue yes. Jeez what is happening to me it's been like an hour! I wondered what to tell him, but the truth always works.
"My ex. Ex girlfriend apparently, since he reacts like a girl." I grumbled and rubbed my head that started to hurt again.
"Cate can I ask you something? "Adam suddenly stopped walking and took both of my hands in his. The sparks started up again and I hated myself.
"Adam let's go!" Elliot yelled leaving the lockeroom, interrupting whatever Adam was going to ask.
"HOLD THE FRICK ON!" Adam yelled at him. Elliot mumbled something about Adam being a pussy and being here all night to make a move.
"Elliot stop it! Our little boy has grown up!" James casually replied walking out of the lockeroom.
"Okay then, like I was sayi-" Adam was interrupted once again.
"Adam, James, and Elliot get on the bus and stop horsing around! Or else you will run double the amount Monday!" Adam's dad or also known as the coach yelled.
"Dad can it wait? " Adam questioned and now he seemed exasperated.
"No, now get in the bus, you are harassing this young girl! " Coached said sounding pretty tired.
"But Dad.... Fine I know that look, let's go boys." Adam looked at me and said his goodbyes along with his dad, James, and Elliot.
So there I stood never knowing what he may have asked, but it didn't matter because I wasn't ready to date. Things take time. I probably wouldn't see Adam for a while now. What a shame. I headed down the hallway to wait for Alex to finish up kissing his girlfriend. I decided I would be here for a while, so I went outside to start the car. I pushed through the metal double doors and headed through the parking lot to the Ford escape. I looked around and saw the snow around already starting to fall. My head still hurt, but it was a reminder of Adam. A bad reminder, but it was good at the same time. I touched my forehead and winced. Still hurted like a b****, gosh darn it! I kind of wanted to hit Adam just so he felt my pain. Oh the bipolar. Finally Alex showed up and we headed down the street and to home.
********One week later
"Come on Cate! Please? It's just a triple date." My best friend was pleading with me to go to a movie. With three boys from another school, that I didn't care to know which school. It sounded like a bad time, but the only reason this was happening was because Bella's cousin was single. So automatically Lexi wanted to meet him and lucky enough he had 2 friends. So they decided to on my behalf agree to go on a date sith the other friend. Fml. So here we sat on a Friday in 8th study hall arguing, about a dumb date. I felt bad because whoever this boy was wouldbe alone if I didn't go. Cue the mental sighs.
"Fine Bella. But there will be no 2nd date! If he is so much as a pervert, I'll kick him where the sun don't shine." Those were my rules, and the girls knew better than to press more.
"You know I get where you are coming from, but just make sure togive the guy a chance. "Bella pleaded with me. I would give him a chance, but I wouldn't tolerate stupidity. I thought back to Adam, it had already been a week, and I was starting to forget about him. Which was a great thing, academic first. My heart last.
"But how do we know which guy to go to?" Lexi asked Bella and she raiseda great point.
"Ummm..... Well whichever guy you get along with best?" Bella answered a question with another one. Rhetorical.
"I like the idea, let's just go where the night takes us." I gave my opinion on the problem, and Lexi agreedon it too. Problem solved. For now at least.
3 hours later
There I stood looking in the bathroom mirror of the movie theater. I didn't want to goout just yet. I was scared to, because even my ex boyfriend never took me on a real date. I didn't know how to act of what to say. Be yourself, I'm not trying to impress anyone.
"Cate come on, our dates have arrived. " Bella came in dragging me out with her. Let the fun start. Note the sarcasm in my voice.
I walked out into the movie theater lobby and saw him. I almost ran back to the bathroom to hide. It was Adam. What great fricken timing. I was pulled back by Bella and that's when i noticed it. James and Elliot where there too, and that was exactly where Bella was headed. Lexi stood there talking to Adam, James, and Elliot. I was nervous? That was an understatement. Oh jeez!
"Guys, this is Cate. You already know Bella since she is Adam's cousin." Lexi chirped and I could have sworn running would have been the best option. If I could run of course, but excersise is way too tiring.
"Cate?" Adam's head popped up and mine went down at the same time.... Well shit!
"Hi...." I mumbled under my breath. I hadn't seen Adam in a week, and I was kind of hoping he forgot about me.
"Hey Cate!" Elliot said once he saw the awkwardness I was giving off.
"Cate? Oh you are that Cate. Oh Adam wouldn't shut u-" A hand was placed over Jame's mouth before he could finish. I noticed it was Adam's and I chucked. Poor James.
"Wait you three know her?" Bella questioned us suspiciously. I shook my head and Bella looked curiously at me.
"We played them last week. In basketball. Adam hit me in the face with the door." I answered her questions before she could ask all the details.
"Wait this is that Adam?" Lexi asked me, and I shook my head.
"I'm offended! You didn't talk about me? !?" Elliot started whining and went to hug James. James shot me a glare, as he patted his back. I looked to Adam to findhe had been looking at me the whole time. Awkward.
"Okay well then, let's go to the movie." I rushed up to the counter and order the tickets and concessions. I was about to lay, but Adam grabbed me with his arm and held me back as he paided. Men and their willing of wanting to spend money. I triedto shove him, but he was all muscle. He shot me a smirk, which I shot back with a scowl. I headed over to Bella and Lexi and joined in on their conversation.
"Well I'm sitting by Adam." Lexi was telling Bella and a part of me got a little angry. I'd like to day jealousy, but I wouldn't admit it.
"Shouldn't Cate sit with Adam? I mean she knows him the best." Bella responded back to her. I can't sit with Adam, I'll just like him even more. That's not apartof the plan.
"Adam will sit in the middle then." Lexi argued back.
"Guys I don't care. Just whatever works out best. " I threw in thereand that seemed to solve another problem.
"Hey we should go in." Adam said bringing over out tickets and concessions. This was going to be a long night
