Authors note: HI EVERYONE!! Sorry I haven't update in...literally 3 months. :/ I didn't think my story was that good, and I didn't think anybody liked it, so I decided I would just stop writing it. But some of my readers asked me when I was going to update again, and encouraged me to continue, so here I am. I hope you enjoy the amazing-ness and odd things that come after our Jason turns up on Cinder's doorstep! :D enjoy ;)

-CHAPTER FOUR-

I just stood there staring at Jason, standing soaking wet from rain on my front porch.

"Can I come in?" He said shyly.

I stared at him a little longer, confused before saying: "What?"

"Can I come in?" He repeated. This time less shy, but putting what he meant out there.

I was still majorly confused, and before I could even think or realize what I was saying was rude I said: "Why?" Automatically feeling mean afterwards, I kept my hand on the open door and looked down.

"Um...maybe this wasn't such a good idea, I think I'll-" Jason started to say while scratching the back of his neck awkwardly.

"NO!" I shouted. He looked up quickly wide eyed, looking a little surprised and scared. I swallowed, trying to forget the fact he probably thought I was mentally insane at that moment. "No." I repeated softer this time. "Come in, get out of the rain your going to get sick!" I said firmly. He nodded and stepped in. "Um." I stuttered. "..yes" he said. "I looked at him with my eyebrows scrunched together, then he spoke. "Oh right!" He said putting his index finger in the air, suddenly remember why he was here. He chuckled to himself. "Sorry about that, brain fart!" He apologized. "So I was walking home from school, and I was thinking about you, and I felt bad for avoiding you." He looked at me weird. "It was just. I don't know what happened today at lunch, I mean it was confusing!" He said looking up to think, as if he was still trying to put the puzzle pieces together.

I cocked one eyebrow up and looked at him, he noticed and looked back down. "So I took your advice about Newman. He's pretty nice actually, he said he's known you since forever and just adores you!"

I suddenly got butterflies in my stomach remembering what David had said, just minutes before Jason showed up. 'He just adores you' played through my head. What was that supposed to mean? David never told me he adored me. Well there was that one time at my 10th birthday party and he was dared to tell me he loved me by Chris Golder, but that doesn't count. I shook my head realizing I had zoned out and put my attention back on Jason still confused.

"And that's how I ended up here!" He finished.

I blinked. Completely missing what he had said. "Um, sorry what?"

"I talked to Newman after school, and we ended up talking about you. I told him how I wanted to talk to you after school today, and he told me where your house was."

I gritted my teeth. Thanks for the warning of my surprise guest David old buddy.

"Oh." I said. "And you wanted to talk about what exactly." I didn't want to sound mean, but I wanted to get straight to the point, I knew Ally was silently eavesdropping around the corner.

"Well, one. To say sorry for avoiding you. And two, figure out why the heck I'm so nervous right now, and around you."

What? Nervous. I didn't know why! Why was he asking me. I suddenly felt nervous too. "I..um.. See..well. It's f-fine." I stammered. "I was upset you were avoiding me." I felt suddenly very embarrassed and stupid. "Uh, what is your last name by the way, you never told me." I said awkwardly.

"McAskill." He said. "Jason McAskill." It reminded me of the James Bond movie I saw last weekend, and as he curtsied and then took my hand and kissed the top of it. I laughed. When he stood up, he moved his one eyebrow up with a big grin on his face. "My lady!" He said gesturing to me. "And to whom may I have the honours of speaking to?" I laughed again. "Cinder Clarkson!" I bowed. Thinking about how he had curtsied and I bowed confused me, but it didn't bother me since we were both acting like nuts anyway.

"May I come in to your humble abode, Ms. Clarkson? ...whatever that means." Jason said.

I laughed. "Of course, sir McAskill." I answered.

He put his elbow out for me to link arms with him, I happily did. "Right this way." I said fancy-like. And then we both literally skipped into my living room where Ally sat, laughing on the sofa.

I couldn't help but join in when I saw that Jason still had his one eyebrow cocked up really far, and that odd wide grin on his face. Mix that with him dripping wet and he looked like a complete psychopath.

I started rolling around on the floor laughing. His eyebrow fell thankfully, and he said, "What? What is it?" He looked at both of us and we continued laughing, tears now coming out of our eyes. His face just looked so weird!

"-.-"-.-"-.-"-.-"-.-"-.-"-.-"-.-"-.-"-.-"-.-"

When I finally stopped laughing enough that I could stand up, as I stood up Jason grabbed my legs from under me, and picked me up bridal style. I was still laughing but a little nervous as he picked me up. He spun me around a bit, me close to his chest and tight in his arms. We both started laughing hysterically and landed on the coach beside Ally, who was close to peeing herself.

I was in the middle, Ally and Jason on either side of me. It was a perfect moment. Just us as friends laughing and having fun. It was the best moment I'd had in a long time. And it was weird that it happened with my best friend and a complete new person to my life as of that day. It was quite obvious that Jason had no problems with showing who he was, and his personality. I really liked that about anyone, but it especially suited him.

Me, Ally and Jason decided to watch a movie since it was early-ish in the evening. Me and Jason seemed to have taste in the same type of movies. Ally was more of the romantic kind, but I couldn't stand romance movies, unless there was some type of action in it, or if it was a well written romantic-COMEDY! Emphasis on the comedy. I love comedies, action and mystery. So we decided to watch a movie about to people falling in love. (For Ally sense of romantic crap) and then one of them is mysteriously murdered. (Sounding better in my head) The main character is hilarious. And since someone died early on it ends up being full of action! (Score!) Making it the perfect movie for all of us.

At the part in the movie when the mans newly wed wife was murdered, Ally bawled of coarse, but when I looked over at Jason he was sniffling and I saw a few drops roll down his face. I laughed in my head at this. It was kinda sweet an hilarious at the same time to see Jason cry at a death of someone's love. Now that I'm thinking about it, of course he is! That is freaking sad! I found my self crying a bit myself.

Once the sad parts were gone and the real action took place, both me and Jason got into it. There was this one part when the police were chasing a suspect and there was a lot of explosions and chaos, but it went perfectly with the scene and the action. I looked over at Ally who shook her head, probably sad that all the mushy love sick stuff was gone. Haha, who cares, they may have just found the killer. I was interested.

••

By the end of the movie, we were all surprised to find out that it was Jennifer's (Jennifer is the wife that died in the beginning of the movie) loving, sweet, caring, old lady mom who killed her own daughter. I was expecting it to be that 9th grade teacher, or the barber, but I was wrong.

We decided to watch another movie, this one all romance. "Yay, romance." Ally squealed. "Gross, barf." I said looking at her. She glared at me, but then smiled and turned her attention to the tv.

After me making jokes about how this movie was so predictable and non-realistic, it was half way through the movie.

I leaned back on the coach in my seat, very bored of all the kissing. And felt something warm on my back. I looked behind me and saw Jason's arm leaning on the back of the coach, directly behind me. I looked at him confused, but he stared straight at the movie, suddenly very interested in the two main characters dancing. I watched his arm slowly slide down the back of the coach, until he fully rested it on my shoulder. I looked at him again, this time he looked over and smiled shyly before returning his gaze to the movie.

I chuckled out loud, Jason looking at me, and Ally whispering for me to 'shhh' and that I was being rude and should shut up.

Was that his "move?" I laughed in my head and smiled thinking it was quite pathetic, before realizing the situation I was in, and suddenly felt very nervous. He had his arm around me during a romance movie, what the heck? Ok, I'm sure it's nothing. Stay calm. I was lost in my own thoughts, before I saw both Jason and Ally were staring at me on the coach. They were both stood up looking at me. "Cinder, the movie was over three minutes ago!" Ally said. Then she got a mischievous look in her eye. "I didn't know you were so into romance movies! Is my Cinder finally turning into a girl? Are you going soft on me Clarkson?" She said. I glared at her blushing. "No, of course not. I was just...thinking." She laughed at me and rolled her eyes. "Whatever!" She laughed. "Well what shall we do-"

Jason's phone beeped loudly. He drowned and pulled it out of his pocket. "Sorry!" He said before reading the text and frowning even more. "I've got to go." He said. "Dang I was having fun, he looked up from his phone and looked me right in the eye grinning.

"Sorry. I hope we can hang out again soon. I think this should be a great friendship!" I gave him a closed mouthed smile. "Yeah." I said. My heart dropped a bit at the word 'friendship.' But I shook it off and smiled brightly at him. "We should do this again sometime!" He smiled. "Absolutely!!" He spread his arms out. "All of us!" Again my heart dropped a little, I was hoping me and him could go individually sometime to the theatres. Then realizing I was being dumb and would love to have Ally there, I smiled. "Yeah!"

His phone started ringing. He answered. "Hello" he waited and his eyebrows furrowed together. "Uh huh! Yep! Okay!" He listens some more. "Yeah okay, I get it." He sighed. Then laughed at whatever the person on the other line said. "Haha I'm on my way babe!" He smiled in a mischievous way, that I didn't like going along with the conversation he was having.

"Kay, see you soon." He hung up the phone and looked at us. "Right, well I gotta go. I had loads of fun!" I stared at him with a mixture of curiosity, suspicion and hidden jealousy. He looked back at me for a while as I studied his face, then my look returned to normal. "Yep, sure was fun. See you tomorrow." I said smiling. "Have fun wherever your off to!" I said a little to unenthusiastic. "Yeah, have fun!" Ally smiled. "We should all hang out again soon." She said. "Yeah, I better leave before she gets mad." I frowned. She? He looked at me and I immediately smiled, he studied my face for a while, and then said "thank you for having me." and left.

My face immediately fell when he was gone, and I decided that was enough excitement for one day, and wanted to rest. I said my goodbyes to Ally, and went to take a long warm shower. As you may recall, I was still going to see Jason at school tomorrow, so I could talk to him about that random girl later.

After my shower I slid into some warm pyjamas and sat on my bed relaxing as I picked up my phone from my night stand. I got a new text. I opened it. It was from someone who wasn't in my contacts. I looked down at the phone, confused as I read the text.

"I had fun tonight Cinder, haha I thought it was cute how much you blushed when I put my arm around you! ;) can't wait to see your red tinted cheeks tomorrow! -Jason"

I had my mouth hanging open, but quickly found my face heating up again. That was from Jason, he had noticed me blushing. "Ughhh, how embarrassing." I banged my head on the wall repeating why, why, why, why, why? My mom walked in whilst I was doing this, about to say something to me, but when she saw me she quickly closed her mouth and stared at me and then slowly left my room. I started laughing at myself as my mom left. "Oh well." I laughed.

The next day David picked me up on his way to school.

"Hey, Cinderblock?" He called my name. I looked over at him, not even bothered by the nickname coming from him.

"Yeah?"

"Um, sorry about being all weird and mushy yesterday!" He exclaimed.

I laughed and punched him in the shoulder. "Ow!" He said rubbing his shoulder. "What was that for?" He asked.

"Haha, dude! You were just trying to make me feel better, and besides, you weren't saying you liked me for real! You just wanted to hang out after school as friends! So don't worry about it, but promise you won't go all soft on me!" I laughed again but he just stared straight ahead.

"Yeah...sure."

I looked over at him. He kept his eyes focused on the road, hands held the steering wheel tight, and his shoulders slightly pulled up and scrunched forward. I kept looking at him confused for a moment, before he couldn't handle it anymore. He pulled the car over to the side of the road and turned to face me in his seat.

He stared right into my eyes. I shifted nervously. "What are you-"

"Would it really be that bad?" He cut me off.

"What are you talking about? David, we're going to be late. I have double math this morning!"

"Would it be bad if I was telling you I liked you for real, or I wanted to go on a real date with you? Because I wasn't trying to make you feel better, I was telling you my real feelings!" He sighed. And before I could answer he continued. "I mean I would try my best to make you feel better if you were upset any day! But what you said makes you sound..sound almost relieved that I didn't say I actually liked you...am I really that bad?"

I looked around looking for a quick escape other than the ditch. I couldn't stand his drilling stare anymore. I mean of course it wouldn't be bad, I would think it was cute if he actually liked me, but we are best friends we could never be together. It would never work out! ...right? Seeing there was no escape, I turned back to him.

"Of course not." I said. "You are amazing, nice and smart. I didn't mean anything about you or your feelings by what I said." I explained the best I could. I have never been good at these types of thing. "We have been best friends since, who knows how long!" I said throwing my arms in the air and he smiled.

"Yeah!" He looked down for a second at the car floor, and I could have sworn I saw a small red tint glow on his face, but I didn't have much time to process it before he looked up and smiled really big. "You really are something, Cinderblock! You truly are one in a million." He beamed. "Thanks I'm here all year!" I said bowing in my seat, holding my hand up to quiet the fake applause. He chuckled and shook his head before starting the ignition, and we were on the road again.

Thank gosh. I am not good at handling this type of stuff. And I started to get nervous being alone with him. I know he's David and he wouldn't hurt a fly, but I hate being alone with high school boys anywhere! Did I mention that? You never know what is going through their minds, I trust the guys I know, but I am too shy to meet anymore. So I'm just kinda shy, nervous and scared. I use the knowledge I've heard about players and crap. Not a nice subject.

David was still smiling as he was driving. What the heck?

"What are you so smiley about?" I asked confused.

"Oh nothing..." He chuckled. I looked at him even more confused.

"What the heck?"

"It's just," He laughed as the car pulled into the school parking lot and he grabbed his book bag and jumped out.

I grabbed mine and got out as well.

"It's just what?" I asked catching up with him and walking right beside him, while looking up at him. (Stupid tall-ness) he continued walking as he said, "You're kinda cute when complementing my many traits and awesomeness!" He kept walking and smiling, but I stopped in my tracks.

Cute? What the heck? Since when was I cute! Since when was Newman so handsome? Wait what!? I slapped myself in the head for thinking that thought. Since when was I cute to Newman? Just two years ago he called me brutal and scary! (We were wrestling for the last cookie my mom baked! Don't mean to brag, but I beat him by a long shot. I had to swear to never tell anyone at school) I had always been the tough tomboy to Newman, what changed to make him see me as something girly enough as... 'Cute'? Little girls are cute, puppies are cute, babies are cute, little boys are cute, kittens are cute, butterflies are cute! But Cinder Clarkson's like me: big nerdy glasses, very shy, can't wear contacts, not pretty. Nope! I was not 'cute' no, no way!

I looked ahead and saw David look back at me and smile sweetly with those adorable big brown eyes before entering the school.

Adorable? What the heck! They are big and sweet. Hmm what am I talking about, this is Newman I am talking about. He is not adorable! 'But his eyes are!' A voice said in the back of my head. 'And the rest of him!' The voice continued. I shook my head quickly as I started to zone out.

I thought about this for a while, before the bell rang.

"OH MY GOSH NOT AGAIN!" I groaned, and took off towards the school with the word adorable circling through my head.

As I ran through the door, my thoughts on being late to math and David, I slowly said out load: "Adorable?"

"I know I am!" I heard a low voice say. As I stopped running and turned to the sound of the voice, I gasped. Why was he here? "Hello Cinder, long time no see!"
