(This next little bit is text messages)
I pulled put my phone, and pulled up Ally's contact.
Me: ALLY YOU'RE NEVER GONNA BELIEVE THIS! STANLEY IS BACK! HE'S GOING TO BE AT OUR SCHOOL AGAIN!!!!!!!
Her: I know.. :/
Me: .....oh.......
Her: pretty crazy, huh?
Me: yeah! I'm surprised they let him back in, and I was upset at first
Her: but now you're not? He ditched you Cinder, he betrayed you.
Me: I know, but he apologized today, and I mean big apology. I decided to forgive him. I mean of course it's gonna take some time for me to fully be over it. I don't think I ever will actually be fully over it, but at least I can push it to the back of my mind. You know?
Her: yeah, I guess. But be careful, he's into some pretty shady stuff right now. You don't wanna be a part of that somehow. Ok?
Me: yeah, I know! Yes, ok. He said that himself as well. I know how to take care of myself, I can stay out of trouble! I have so far, haven't I?
Her: alright Cinder, whatever you say. I'm just looking out for you.
Me: that's fine. But, I can take care of myself. I'm glad you're looking out for me, but please Ally. I know what I'm doing.
Her: don't get upset Cinder, that's not what I want.
Me: k, sure. I'll talk to you tmr, I gotta go. Thanks for the advice Ally. Bye.
I threw my phone on my bed, and grunted in frustration."My gosh!!" I started pacing.
"I mean I know she's just trying to look out for me, but I can handle things myself. I know what I'm doing!"
I looked at myself in the mirror. My face was all red.
"But, she is my best friend, and she just wants to keep me happy and safe." I sighed.
"I was way too hard on her." I felt bad instantly.
I should call her, I thought.
"And stop talking to myself." I said aloud, chuckling to myself.
I went to her contact and called her number.
No answer.
I tried again.
No answer.
This is hopeless. She will never pick up..
I tried one more time.
"Hello."
"Hi!" I answered a bit too enthusiastically, "Listen, I'm really s-..."
I stopped abruptly mid sentence. The line went quiet for a few moments as neither me or anyone on the other end spoke.
"Wait..." I said slowly.
Kinda like a huge delayed reaction, it seems as if my brain only processed what the voice of the person I was speaking to sounded like, and that it, most definitely was not feminine, and not Ally's voice. It was distinctly male...and familiar?
"Hello?" The unknown boy speaking to me repeated.
"Are you there?"
I didn't dare speak.
"Did the line go dead?" Comes a muffled voice.
I search my mind as to who this person may be.
That voice sounds vaguely like...
