Chapter 2
I had my talk with the teacher and went to gym. Gym was fun, we played volleyball. I love volleyball, I love all sports. I am just too shy to play on some teams, some I don't mind. Like volleyball.
After gym I had English and band. I play the alto saxophone, I have since 7th grade.
Then we had lunch, I went and sat down at 'The loser table.'
I was almost done my lunch, when I saw Jason. He seemed to he looking for someone. He saw me and started walking towards my table, I quickly finished my sandwich, and took off.
He kept following me. But I didn't want to talk to him. He's nice, sweet and caring, and I want to be friends, but when I am with him I get embarrassed too much.
He caught up with me. "Hey Cinder, you want to hang out for the rest of lunch?" I didn't look at him. "I can't I'm busy." I kept walking. "What's the matter, I thought we could be friends?!" "You don't want to be hanging out with me." I stopped. "You're a new kid, you have a new start. You have the chance to be popular, make cool friends!" He looked at me confused. "What I'm trying to say is, I'd love to be friends, but I'm just not popular, and people don't really classify me as...cool! You should hang out with Daniel Newman, he's been a friend of mine for a ling time. (I made out the word friend and swallowed angrily, remembering the events that involved him this morning) he's a perfect example of popular, and...in some people's eyes, cool!" He started to stop me but I continued. "I don't want to ruin things for you just because..." Just because what? I thought. I can't tell him, I like him! I would sound insane, I don't even know him well. It is just something about him...that's different. I didn't know what to say, I felt my heart pound faster, my face reddened and I just starred at my shoes. "Because what?" He questioned me. "Okay, point is, I don't want to ruin your reputation, by you hanging out with me! A shy, nerd!" He looked sad. "Don't get me wrong. You seem nice, caring and very sweet! I just don't want to be the reason you aren't popular. You have a good chance to be a cool kid, take the opportunity!" I started walking away, but I heard him quietly talk behind me. "But you mean more to me then popularity..." On the inside I was freaking out, as those few words exited his mouth. I stopped, turned to look at him, and found him closer than I expected. I backed up a little awkwardly and looked up at him. "I do?" He smiled. "Yeah! You are nice, and funny. Everybody is welcoming me, but definitely not the way you did!" He giggled a bit.
I starred at him for a second, but I couldn't help but smile. "Yeah that's true. I can be embarrassing." He laughed. "That's perfect." Butterflies formed in my stomach. (That's normal right?) I smiled at him admiringly! "Come on." He said. "Let's go for a walk before next class!" I followed him out of the cafeteria. What happened next, I was not expecting!

Me and Jason were walking down the hallway, him chatting up a storm. When, Sarah McNeil, the...(I don't use bad words very often. Lets just say, she's one of those girls who acts like she wears clothes, but she really doesn't.) She walked up to Jason and started flirting with him! She was like: "Hey Jason." She was touching his shoulders and rubbing them, and trying to act all sexy. (Obvious fail.) "Get off me!" Jason said as he pushed her hands off his shoulders. She looked at him puzzled. "But I'm Sarah McNeil. Every guy loves me!" Jason looked at her. "Well not me." He turned to walk away, but stopped, looked back and said: "And would you put some clothes on" Sarah just starred at him wide eyed, and made a little diva sound. "And to think I thought you were cute." He looked at her crazily. "And to think you were just feeling me, and you know nothing about me. That really describes what kind of girl you are! It also perfectly describes someone I don't like!" At that we both turned and left Sarah bewildered and steaming with anger.
We were at a different hallway after walking a while in silence. "...you're not friends with... that are you?" I laughed. "That? Really?" He nodded seriously. "She is a girl, you know!" I giggled. "No I'm not friends with her!" He smiled. "Good, you're nothing like her."
I tried to put a genuine diva face on. (Can you guess, complete fail. I looked more lost, and dumb then I did a diva) "What's that supposed to mean?" I put my hands on my hips, and did the whole diva head and neck thingy. (You know where you move your head back an forth and in a circle? ...you know what I mean!) he laughed, closing his eyes and tiling his head up. I smiled because I liked making people happy.
He looked at me smiling widely. "What are you doing after school today?" He asked. I chewed my lip nervously. "Nothin." I looked around a little trying to act cool, I attempted to lean against a locker and cross my legs, but I just ended up tripping and falling. Did I mention I suck at trying to act cool. Jason must have noticed my attempt to act cool, because he smiled and laughed. "I always want you to be yourself around me, don't ever try to be someone you're not." He said as he helped me off the ground.
When I came up, he was holding my arms protectively, and I looked into his eyes. He looked back into mine, smiling. Though his smile faded away slowly as we stared into each others eyes, I thought something was going to happen, but then the bell rang.
I snapped my head away from him, and he let go of my arms. "Well I better be getting to class." He said scratching his head awkwardly and backing up. "Ye-yeah, me too." I stuttered. There was an awkward silence and then he walked away.
I stared at him as he walked off. I turned and walked to my class disappointed, since he didn't even finish asking what I was doing after school today. I thought he was going to ask if we could hang out after school, before I stared into his eyes for too long. You know the term saved by the bell? Well this was the exact opposite, the bell came, but I didn't need or want saving.

The rest of the day flew by pretty quick. I didn't see Jason at all last 2 periods, and couldn't stop thinking about what would have happened, if the bell didn't ring. I saw Jason at the end of the day, he saw me too, but then he just looked away and pushed on through the crowd of teens, waiting to go home. Is he avoiding me, I wondered.

When I got home I got a text. I read who it was from. Ally Is The Best! sent you a message. I smiled and opened it, did I mention Ally is my bestest friend ever since kindergarten? She is always there for me, and is more outgoing than me. Not a shy girl at all. The text read: "HEY GIRL!! ;) I saw you with that new boy today, he's kinda cute! Is he nice? :)" I texted her back, starting a conversation.
Me: Yeah I know! He's adorable! And super sweet :) His name is Jason.
Her: Awwwhh! Does Cinder have a wittle cwushy wushy?
Me: What?! I hardly know him. I don't even know his last name yet. And besides...I think he's avoiding me.
Her: Okay. Okay! :) Why would he be avoiding you?
Me: I don't know! He saw me, but looked away and kept walking. He has been doing that since...since what happened before lunch ended!
Her: What happened?
Me: I fell, and he helped me up, and we were holding each others arms.
Her: And YOU KISSED? Oh my gosh, I can't believe you kissed the new kid!! I thought he was way out of your league, but to think you guys kissed, wow!
Me: We didn't kiss! And what the heck, he is out of my league? That's a nice thing to say!
Her: Sorry, lol I was just kidding. Then what happened?
Me: We were holding each other and staring into each others eyes! But then the bell rang. Something may have happened if it wasn't for the bell but I doubt it! Again, we hardly know each other!
Her: Oh..that sucks. Well I'm sure he'll come through, I mean who can ignore you? ;)
Me: Thanks Ally! :) You are the best!
Her: I know! I try my hardest. I guess awesomeness just runs in my veins! :P
Me: Shut up! Lol
"Cinder come here, I need your help." My mom yelled. "Coming!" I yelled back.
Me: I gotta go, my mom is yelling to me. See you tomorrow! Bye
Her: See ya!
I slid my phone in my pocket and ran upstairs.
