I was walking down the path way of the park when I saw a man’s coat go flying off the bench due to the wind. I quickly picked up my pace and squatted down taking it from the ground, thankfully, without any trouble. Once I had a strong grip on it I walked towards the man who was still sitting on the bench, but didn’t notice it flew away on him.
“Sir,” I stated making him look up from his phone screen. He only raised an eye brow, as if I was an unwanted presence.
“Your uhh coat went flying because the wind picked it up,” I informed handing him his coat. He gladly took it was a smile.
“Thank you uhhh… What’s your name Miss,” He asked in a quite different accent that you don’t hear here in Boston every day.
“Ohh Uh Terry,” I replied reaching out my hand and shaking his politely, “And it was not problem at all.”
He smiled back and said, “I’m David, David Krejci.”
I looked at him with an odd look on my face, “That name sounds familiar… Do I know you from somewhere?”
“Well I play for the Boston Bruins,” He replied.
I shifted my weight onto my left leg, “Ohh that makes so much more sense. I go to the games with my cousin sometimes. She actually a season ticket holder!”
“Ahh that’s cool. Would you like to sit Terry,” He asked scooting over and patting the open area next to him.
“Sure. Thank you David,” I replied sitting down next to him.
“No problem, I noticed you kinda looked uncomfortable with that knee brace on,” He told me as he motioned to my knee.
“Oh, no! It doesn’t hurt too much. So I decided to go for a walk here. To ya know, get used to it,” I replied looking down at my knee brace which was currently strapped snuggly around my knee.
“Oh, ok. Well what happened,” He asked looking me in the eyes with such content.
“When I played softball and when I slid I hurt my knee. I got internal bruising which caused many problems with my knee cap,” I informed looking back at him with a little smile visible on my face.
“That sucks! So, who’s your Favorite Boston Bruin,” He asked.
“I don’t know I really like Krug, but I also like Marchand quite a bit too,” I responded with a little sympathetic look because I didn’t say him. But Hell I’m just telling the truth…
“Soooooo, I was wondering if uhh you would like to go with me to grab a coffee,” He offered.
“Sure,” I replied as my smiled started to grow.
“Cool it’s on me. Would you like to go now or in like five minutes to give your knee a break,” He asked he slid his phone back in his pocket.
“Let’s got now. And my knee won’t ever stop me,” I replied looking at him with a goofy smile.
“Ok, after you my lady,” David said as he motioned for me to stand up.
Once I did we started walking. He was right next to me the entire time. Then in one sudden, swift move he grabbed my hand making me look over at him and smile. And he returned it.
