Chapter 5: Telegenesis

Sonny Rider opened his eyes and stared out into the light that filled the bedroom. 

The sun was shining and Sonny could hear the faint sound of birds chirping. He had not slept that well and he felt awful. 

And then, with a sickening feeling in his stomach, he realised that King was going to use Telegenesis on him today. 

King had said that Telegenesis was going to change the world for good. But what had he meant by that? What did Telegenesis do?

Sonny ground his teeth in frustration. 

Not long ago, his life had returned to normal. 

He had been loving life at Croftbury, he'd been reunited with Rosie, and he'd made lots of new friends. 

But that had all changed in a matter of seconds and now here he was, trapped in a secret base on a remote island in Japan with an evil scientist and his henchmen. 

Was there any way to escape from King and this living nightmare?

Sonny fought back tears. 

Why couldn't his life be normal? Why did something always have to go wrong? 

I just want to go home, he thought. 

Sonny screamed with anger. 

Everything that he'd held dear had been taken away from him. His parents, his friends, Croftbury, his girlfriend, even his home. 

And now his life was in the hands of a crazed scientist who wanted people to treasure his latest work. 

He was beyond scared and exhausted and it hurt his brain to think about what had happened and what was yet to come...

 All he could do now was lie still in bed and remain silent. 

Sonny closed his eyes and lay still in bed. And for the first time in days, Sonny felt at peace. 

But it was only for a brief moment...

 He reminded himself that he'd been through a living hell and that the worst of it was still to come. Sonny tried to cut out all thoughts from his head. He had no notion of time and he wasn't sure how long he remained still in bed for. 

When he opened his eyes, James King was standing over him, smiling. 

"Good morning Sonny. How are you?"

Sonny's throat was dry and he could barely speak. "How is Telegenesis going to work? You promised you'd tell me." 

King nodded. "Well remembered. Telegenesis works through the human body using chemical and scientific experimentation in human genes. The DNA mixed from the genes will transform you into a super being with super powers using my Klystron Storm Generator, a very powerful and hi-tech machine that I built." 

Sonny shivered. He was right to have been suspicious. Telegenesis sounded dodgy from the moment King first mentioned it. And none of what King had just told him sounded promising. "What happens if this all goes wrong?" he asked quietly. 

King shrugged. "You'll die. But that shouldn't happen." he replied in a casual tone. Sonny sighed. He had to trust that King knew what he was doing. 

"Does Telegenesis work on the mind?"

King laughed at that question. "Of course it does. I control you because Telegenesis responds to me!" 

Sonny frowned at that response. He was terrified now. If King controlled his mind, there was nothing that he could do to stop King. King seemed to read Sonny's thoughts because he said the very thing that Sonny had been thinking.
