THE NIGHT

59 8 15

She walked in her room,
The smile vanishing soon.

Before the mirror she stood,
The girl staring back was on the verge of adulthood.

She slipped on the floor crying,
The facade of happiness slowly dying.

All those sleepless nights flashed before her eyes,
When the wet pillows were the only one by her side.

She gripped the blade tighter,
Ready to make it all lighter.

The sleeves of her shirt covered not only her arm,
It dressed many random slits decorating her arm.

The girl who always smiled,
Was the one who silently cried.

That day again in the silence of night,
Darkness won the fight.

She calmed down as blood started flowing,
The physical pain numbing the mental blowing.

And just like that another mark adorned her arm,
Where the constant mask led to self harm.

Was it worth it? I want to ask,
It would be better if you just unmask.

It may rain hard on you right now,
Doesn't mean you have to drown.

Try to swim , I would suggest,
Maybe you will turn out to be the best!

So what do you choose,
The Mask or You?
