SCARS

He watched her every movement as she entered the school hallway,
Eyes on the floor, head bowed low as she silently made her way.

He held his breath knowing what would follow,
Unable to stop the sharp words thrown at her made him feel hollow.

Her skin was white as snow,
But she was always covered from head to toe.

She kept walking ignoring the insults,
He balled his fists in repulse.

He saw a jacket lying in the corner during lunch,
What he saw next made his hear lurch.

Huddled in the corner she sat,
Her white wrists covered in red.

She stood up suddenly as she saw him,
She shakily took a step back away from him.

He brought his hands forward to caress her cheek,
Instead he heard a shriek.

He looked at the growd beginning to gather,
He ignored them and embraced her.

He took her away from there,
And never again did she waiver from any stare.
