"Mom!" I yelled, walking into the living room, where she was doing her daily exercise video. She groaned and paused it.
"Lil, you don't have to yell," she said calmly, which wasn't Mom's usual tone of voice. "What do you want?"
"I want my own room. Phil is so annoying and he smells and he burps and I want my own space where I can hang out and be with my friends without Phil's boxers on my vanity."
Mom looked a little surprised, but all she said was, "Okay, okay, tell your father to help me clean out the unused guest room, and you clear out your stuff and move it in, yeah?" She punched my shoulder and left, screaming, "Howie, time to lift with your legs!" I clapped my hands happily and ran off to collect my stuff.
I grabbed an armful of clothes, my phone and a handful of lipsticks and mascaras and was making my way back to the guest room when Phil bumped into me, and I dropped my mascaras. I knelt down to pick them up and Phil stammered, "What're you doing with your stuff?"
"I'm getting my own room. Mom and Dad are clearing out the guest room for me."
Phil yelped, "What?" I snatched the mascara from his hand and repeated myself. He shoved his hands in his jean pockets and kicked at the carpet with his skater shoes.
"Is this because of me?" he asked quietly.
"No, Phil," I said, getting a little annoyed. "I want my own space to hang out with my own friends to put my own things. I just need some space to call my own."
Phil smirked a little and said, "Here, I'll help you. Let's clear your stuff together." I laughed as I handed some clothes and makeup over to him.
