I stood there inside the storm
My heart frozen
My entire being felt torn
I couldn't understand why I was chosen.
I felt disconnected from the world
My eyes absorbing the blizzard
As the snowflakes twirled & swirled
I greeted them with my tongue like a lizard.
As the blizzard subsided my vision became clear
In front of me was a phoenix; fiery and weird
I stepped forward, it was closer than it appeared
Its wings spread and enveloped me in a hug
And that's when I knew its love was my drug.
