Fact of the Day: I am EXTREMELY awkward and shy

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I gaped at Rivers now still body. Ummm... He stopped breathing. What the hell just happened? I swear that's the question of the day.
I shook Rivers again. Come on, come on, wake up already! We need to go. I have plans to make! For example, moms..funeral. I shuddered. Not something I really want to think about but I know it needs to be done.
Rivers groaned. Holy crap! He's alive! I watched him sit up, shaking his head.
"Hey are you okay?" I asked.
He turned her head to meet my eyes to only see the same blue eyes as the man in the suit. Wait..didn't he have brown eyes?
To be honest, I'm not very good with faces and names...
As if just realizing I was there, Rivers lifted his arms to reach for me but I pulled back. "Rivers?"
Standing up I gave him a hand to pull him up too. He only stared. I frowned. "Are you okay?"
Again, he ignored me. He stood up without taking my hand and only stared at me.
The way he was staring made me feel like a mouse stuck in a snakes cage. "Listen, I'm sorry I stupidly distracted you from the suited man but seriously! What was I supposed to do? Let you shoot the man? Hell no! You can't jus-"
He once again, cut me off with a growl. Since when do people growl? "Quit acting like a dog," I snapped. "We need to go and see if that woman is okay." I spun around only to find her and the van gone. Okay. Guess she didn't leave her personal information and insurance on the car she ran into..
Rivers roughly grabbed my shoulders and pulled me closer to him.
Oh my god. What the hell is he doing? I can feel my face turn tomato red. "Umm Rivers, I may be a bit too.. How do I say this.. Young?"
He wrapped his hands around me and I shuddered. "Rivers let me go!" He wrapped his hands around my mouth as if to silence me. That was until he bit onto my shoulder.
Thank God I love wearing layers! My jacket got caught in his teeth so I raised my leg and kicked his kneecap to loosen his grasp.
"What the hell man! You ripped my favorite jacket! That jacket was a gift from mom, you asshat!" I slapped him hard to see that his head whipped to the left.
He growled again and ran to me with arms outstretched.
I kicked him again and tailed my ass back to the house. Today, is obviously not my day.
Come on, come on, a little further! I groaned. I needed to work out...
Rivers shuffled behind me, struggling to keep up.
I reached the door and ripped it open to see Angel stuttering questions a mile a minute. "What's going on? Why are you running? Are you okay? What's wrong with Rivers?"
"Angel move!" I shoved her backwards and slammed the door in Rivers face. Sadly, Rivers still had a limb stuck between the door and the entryway. I tried to move it out of the way so I could close the door completely but obviously Rivers has some muscles.
Okay. Maybe I am starting to understand that this 'zombie' thing really is happening. "Angel help me close the door!"
She quickly came to my aid and the weight of the both of us easily pushed back on Rivers who seem to have slid his arm back outside. Which in turn allowed me and Angel to lock the door. I turned and sat against the door sighing.
"Are you going to answer my questions now?"
Ugh..
"Where is the emergency fire ax, Angel?"
"Uh, in the basement. Why?"
"Just precautions.. Wake up Kaden for me, will ya? Also, call Matt. We're gonna need him as soon as possible." Matt is a good family friend of ours. Knowing him, he can help us. Ugh. I am so not ready for his snarky remarks like, "You should have prepared for the apocalypse! I knew it would happen!"
I walked in the kitchen to find the basement door. Great. I hate the basement.
It always feels like the horror movie type room. Dark, creepy, and dusty. The whole package.
I stepped down the stairs to see the small light bulb hanging by a cord in the dim room. I yanked the string for the light to flicker and die out once again. Awesome. The light bulb is dead. Now I'll have to search in dark.
My day just keeps getting better and better. I moved around a couple dust boxes to see a shelf above my head. Ah ha! Found it! Ohhhhh and a duffle bag too.
Snatching the two I ran back upstairs to see Angel on the phone with Matt.
"Is he coming?"
"Yea. He's on his way. It may be a bit because of traffic." Angel responded.
