Alexis read the article over and over again. She had replayed the night over and over again in her head, well the parts she had remembered.
The guilt that was crushing her was horrible.
She had ruined her and Chris's reputation!
She shut the laptop forcefully and set it on her nightstand before slipping under her covers and burying herself within them.
She was a role model to children, teens, and adults. Their views on her shaped how she viewed herself.
She had thought about taking a few days off but had never really considered what she would do.
Visit her father?
That wouldn't help her, but maybe it would help him. She didn't want to feel selfish anymore.
She pulled back her laptop and booked the tickets. It would be a two hour train ride. She got out of her bed and began to pack.
'It's only a few days, you can do this.' She thought to herself.
Contrary to the public's belief, Alex had a very messy past. One that the media had no information on.
Her father was a non-functioning alcoholic suffering from anxiety and depression. Her mother had left him when Alex was 15. She contacted her once a year. Alex had no idea where she was, nor did she care. She had two brothers, Jayden & Jacob. Jayden had committed suicide at the age of 17. Alex was 21. Jacob was currently studying criminal justice in NYC. He wanted to be a lawyer. Alex was using her paycheck to pay for his college tuition.
Alex was a responsible adult by the age of 15. Taking care of her two brothers and her constantly drunk father. She had taken up a job at such a young age to pay the bills and when she started gaining money from her youtube videos life became easier and easier. She had finally seen a light at the end of the tunnel.
She had blamed herself when her brother had taken his own life. She had been so oblivious to his pain, he had trusted her and she had let him down. She couldn't save him.
But her dad was still alive, she could still save him.
Going back to see her dad was going to make him feel better, but might break her in the long run.
She needed her best friend.
Before she could stop herself, she had sent a text to Sebastian.
