So, while the concept seems to be extraordinary, the work itself has not been started. What I read was actually the preview. So, I'm going to be going over that.
Firstly: How much of a preview is it?
For me, it didn't really seem like just a preview, like one that impresses upon people some form of mystery that inevitably get them to check it out. It seemed like it was revealing too much for just a preview. By reading that snippet, we see that MC is a runaway being chased by the government or some form of organization, and that she has some unnatural abilities.
What I think should have been done was just to focus on her abilities. Adding in the organization that's coming after her, along with a display of powers, is a tad too much. It takes away some of the mystery for me. I did like that the MC was shown to be injured, and thus not invincible, because no one likes a character that won't have some form of breakdown and give the readers feels.
Secondly: How does the MC deal with their situation?
So far, we see that the MC is doing pretty well for herself until her door gets busted down. That is enough to rattle her, and that shows that she can be related to. If she weren't the least bit startled by what was going on, then you could already tell that she was gonna be one of the cliche bad-ass girls with very little dimension to them.
There's also the part of her injury while she's escaping. We see that she had weighed her options and that she still indeed rankled from her encounter about a second prior to her running down the wall and hurting her ankle. Had she not been at all flustered by the situation, she would have gone unscathed. Instead, she gets hurt, talks about the pain, and walks off to school like a boss.
But, she actually goes to seek some form of medical attention. She's nervous at this point, and you come back to the realization that she's not a bad-ass and she's probably terrified. Which is good, because she's easy to relate to, and we want that as readers.
Lastly: Is this something I want to check out?
It is, indeed. The writing style is nice, but what really drew me in was the MC herself. While I didn't much like it as preview, I could tell the story itself would present a number of aspects that would be enjoyable to read.
All I ask is that I have feels, and I can see it coming with Iris as the MC ^-^
