Hajime Hinata:
Hi Peko. Are you free today?
Peko Pekoyama:
I was planning on doing some light training today, so I do not mind if you join me or not.
Hajime Hinata:
Light training, eh? That sounds good! I could use some exercise.
Peko Pekoyama:
If you insist. Then let's go.
Hajime Hinata:
Huh? Where?
Peko Pekoyama:
We will go for a short run around the island five times.
Hajime Hinata:
F-Five times?!
Peko Pekoyama:
But of course. Come on. Let's go.
Hajime Hinata:
H-Hey Peko. Would it be okay if we just talked instead?
Peko Pekoyama:
...
I guess that would be okay. I will just catch up tomorrow by running the island 10 or 20 times.
Hajime Hinata:
My God she's determined.
So Peko. What should we talk about?
Peko Pekoyama:
What is it that you would like to talk about?
Hajime Hinata:
Oh, I hadn't actually thought this far.
Uh... how about... swords?
Peko Pekoyama:
You are saying that you are interested in sword fighting?
Hajime Hinata:
Y-Yeah I guess. I've never really had much experience with swords. I haven't even held one before.
Peko Pekoyama:
Then... If you would like, I will allow you to see my bamboo sword.
Hajime Hinata:
W-Wow. Really?
I hadn't really seen a proper bamboo sword up close so I was genuinely interested.
She pulled out her sword and held it in front of me.
Woah... It looks so authentic.
Peko Pekoyama:
But of course. It was carved by hand by my family when I was a very young child.
Hajime Hinata:
When she was really young, eh?
Did your family members do kendo as well?
Peko Pekoyama:
Not... quite. My caretakers provided me with this sword as... a way of protection.
Hajime Hinata:
Huh? Were you in a position in which you needed to protect yourself that badly?
Peko Pekoyama:
No. This sword was not created for me to protect myself. But rather, to protect my...
No... It is not important.
Hajime Hinata:
U-Uh. I understand.
I guess she isn't exactly comfortable with divulging her past. Maybe next time if I talk to her, she'll be more open to me.
Peko Pekoyama:
It is beginning to get late. Perhaps we should return.
Hajime Hinata:
Y-Yeah you're right.
Peko Pekoyama:
Anyways, thank you for spending time with me today. If you would like to, you do not need to hesitate in approaching me again in the future.
Hajime Hinata:
Of course. I'll see you later.
I guess that means that she doesn't mind talking again.
