“Come on, don't you ever stop and smell the coffee?”
― Justina Chen, North of Beautiful
“So what are your thoughts on heights?” Will asked the next night as they resumed their, as Leighton insisted on calling it, Exploration Expedition.
“What do you mean?” Leighton questioned in between sips of delicious Café au lait.
“Are you afraid of heights?”
“N-no, not really,” Leighton answered, causing Will to chuckle. “Fine. It depends on the height. Why are we climbing a tree today or something?”
“No, not a tree exactly. I have something else in mind,” Will replied with a mysterious smile.

“No way,” Leighton announced. “There is no way I am climbing that.”
For they were standing in front of a Ferris Wheel in a closed Amusement Park. While Leighton had been more than excited to see the amusement park, for since a child she had an affinity for them, when Will walked past all of the attractions, including her personal favorite, the carousel, to the Ferris Wheel, she felt the first bubble of fear bubbling in her stomach. Having put their conversation from earlier together with the seemingly enormous height of the object in front of her, she was understandably mortified.
“Come on, it’s not that bad,” Will insisted. “It’s really fun. And it looks higher than it really is.”
“How would you know?” Leighton asked, before it clicked. “Wait, you have actually done this before, haven’t you?”
“A couple of times.”
“A couple of times?! I was right, you are some crazy suicidal person!” Leighton exclaimed.
“The view is worth the climb.”
“Yeah, if I make it to the top.”
“Trust me, you will,” Will replied earnestly.
“Pfft,” was Leighton’s reply as she followed the towering outline of the Ferris Wheel against the dark sky with her eye.
“I promise you I will catch you if you fall.”
“I may have barely passed physics but even I know that not possible.”
“Come on!” Seeing that Leighton had no intention of moving from the spot, Will tried a different tactic. “Well, I suppose if you chicken out, there is nothing I can do.”
“I am not chickening out! I just happen to like living and breathing and wish to do so for a couple of more decades at the least. Granted I may not be a hundred percent happy with how I look, but I have no desire to transform into a grease spot.”
“You’d be a lovely grease spot,” Will replied, trying not to laugh.
“Haha. Not funny,” Leighton retorted sarcastically, rolling her eyes. “I am not climbing that.”
“Fine. If you say so,” Will replied turning his back but not before whispering the word “chicken.”
“What did you just say?” Leighton asked narrowing her eyes.”
“Nothing,” Will replied with a too innocent smile. “I suppose we should head out.”
As they began walking away from the Ferris Wheel, Will fake coughed the word, “Chicken.”
“I am not a chicken!” Leighton exclaimed.
“Yes, you are.”
“Am not!” Leighton yelled reverting to age six.
“Are too!” Will yelled following suit.
“Am not!”
“Prove it then.”
“Fine, I will! But if I die, I promise you I will haunt you for the rest of your life. To the point at which you start to wish for Moaning Myrtle instead.”
“Permission granted,” Will replied with a smile, having reached his goal.
With that the pair began scaling the towering Ferris Wheel that awaited them.

I hope you guys liked that. I'm not sure when I will be able to post again. I have a truckload of exams next week. But as you can see, cancelled classes for me=more chapters for you. So let's just keep our fingers crossed and hope more classes get cancelled.
Until next time, read a new book, watch a new show, and continue being awesome =)
