            Deep breaths. Deep breaths.

My feet were on the doorstep. My feet were on the doormat. My hand was on the doorbell. I was stepping back onto the doorstep again. I could feel Aria next to me, her excitement at being in California exuding into everything around us. I hoped my severe anxiety at meeting Sydney was not so palpable.

"Hello! You must be Connor! Sydney has told me so much about you!"

A tall woman with dark brown hair and green eyes was at the door, smiling from ear to ear as she spoke. I smiled slightly as I heard my parents approaching with our luggage.

"Hi, Mrs. Porter. I'm Connor Hall, and this is my sister Aria, and our parents, Greg and Lucy."

Sydney's mother smiled at us all as she invited us inside, and I tried my hardest to not shake or seem unpleasent in any way. I needed to make a good impression on these people, on Sydney's family.

            On Sydney as well.

"So, I have already planned out your sleeping arrangements so that you can get unpacked! We have two guest bedrooms, so I was thinking that Mr. and Mrs. Hall can stay in the one in the basement, that's the one with the king size bed. Aria, you are more than welcome to stay in Sydney's room with her for the week, as long as that suits you." Aria nodded and smiled, nudging me as Mrs. Porter continued to talk.
