Chapter one
"Good luck at your game, sweetie!"
"Thanks mom."
"So where are you now?"
Before answering, I removed the phone from my ear and turned the volume down- a lot. For some reason my mom thinks talking louder will make me think she's even more interested than she really is.
"We're in the hotel in Houston. We've been driving for the last two days, feels good to finally stretch out and move around in our hotel rooms."
"Well I guess long bus rides are the side effects of playing professional soccer. Who are you rooming with this time?"
"Same old, same old. It's just Lindsey and I. Where is dad?" Lindsey and I are best friends, we do everything together. We hang out together, sit next to each other on the bus, room together, everything.
"Oh he's outside with your brothers and sisters. They're all outside playing a game of soccer. Amy, Kyle, and Dad against Noah, Owen, and Taylor."
"That's nice," I said smiling at the thought of all my siblings playing soccer with my dad. "Anyway, gotta go mom. Love you!"
"Love you too! We'll be watching you tomorrow! Remember, don't let Carli intimidate you!"
"Funny," I said and hung up.
I sat back in my bed and checked the clock. It was only 8:30 and we were supposed to be in our hotel rooms by 8:45. I wasn't sure where Lindsey was, probably off somewhere with Meghan, most likely eating something.
I turned on the TV not really paying attention, my mind was still on the thought of my family.
I'm the oldest of six. Noah is seventeen, he's graduating high school this year. He's seven years younger than me but we still get a long really well. Owen and Taylor are twins and are fifteen. When Noah and I found out my mom was having twins, we were quite upset. Being eight, it didn't seem too appealing being the oldest of four. Little did I know two years later my thirteen year old brother Kyle popped out. My parents swore he was the last one, but twelve months later my baby sister Amy was born. I mean, she's not really a baby anymore, she's twelve. However, in my heart she will always be my beloved baby sister.
All six of us followed and are still following in my fathers large footsteps. We all have a strong passion for soccer, just like he does. My dad played professional soccer until Noah was born. When Noah was born my parents were in their mid thirties, so my dad was going to retire soon anyway. When my dad played soccer he was one of the best in the league. However, he was never on the national team. He did play with them once, though. It was a friendly against Puerto Rico. He was subbed in during the second half, got a red, and no more international play for him. As a little girl I always promised him that I'd play on the national team, and that I'd play for him.
"Whatcha doing," Lindsey said after bursted into our room, dragging me back into reality.
"Watching..whatever this is."
Before I could change the channel, nothing other than a heated sex scene flashed onto the screen. Moans and heavy breathing echoed around the hotel room and we bursted out laughing.
"Okay, shut it off before we get in trouble," Lindsey said shutting the door while trying to catch her breath from all the laughing.
"Okay, what do you want to watch?" I flipped through the channels.
