I don't know why I was so worried about this bonfire, it wasn't anything too extreme. My friends and I always have them, why did this moment feel any less different? I look down at my phone, the time is 5:42. The party starts in 20 minutes. I'm starting to think nobody is going to show up, but right after I finished that thought, Brandon and crew burst through my front door with brownies, cake, and a crap ton of fruit juice. Accompanying Brandon are Cassandra and Brandon's girlfriend, Lexi. Lexi is absolutely gorgeous inside and out. With long strawberry blonde hair, hazel eyes, legs for days, standing at 5-foot-10, a super positive and friendly attitude. It's no shocker that she and Brandon are the power couple of the school. They've been together for 2 years and they fill the room with their positive energy. They are just the epitome of a good time. A few minutes later, Jeff waltzes in with bags upon bags of Nerf darts, Nerf guns, and several hundred water balloons. Great, yet another thing to ruin my beautiful outfit today.
Finally, the one person I was nervous for walks in. The illustrious Michael returns with the one thing I asked him to bring: hot dogs. Everyone stopped talking and
"Michael, you made it!" I exclaim, basically ripping the hot dogs from him.
"Yeah, I could not find any anywhere, fucking Walmart has NOTHING!" He chuckles.
"Well, I appreciate it. Come inside, meet everyone. Oh, and don't try to pull any moves on Lexi, she and Brandon are super serious and he will kick your ass otherwise."
"Got it."

"BRANDON, PUT ME DOWN!"
I scream and punch Brandon in his forearms futilely. He just laughs as he carries me upside down over to my pool. God, I wished I hadn't of lost the battle. We were playing a round of Nerf Battle and I lost against Brandon. I was about to win, but I should have known better than to bet against him.
"Sorry darlin'," he says in a really bad western impression, "you bet that if you beat me in the Nerf-off, you would throw me in the pool, and the other way around if I had lost. But I knew I wouldn't!" He finally throws me into the water and adds, "it's not like you are going to get much wetter, you were owned during the water balloon fight too!"
"Brandon! I'm going to freaking kill you when I get out of here!" I say through gritting teeth. This water is freaking cold. Why did I agree to this plan? As I'm shivering inside the pool, I see Michael's hand reach out for me, as if to save me from the frigid lava that is my family's swimming pool. It's as if the world suddenly becomes this heavenly glow around Michael. One of the lights that were on the back porch is angled perfectly at him as he scoops down to save me from my wet and shivering state and it gives him a majestic and mind-blowing angelic glow that catches me off guard.
"Do you need a hand?"
That was all it took. One cheesy, overused line that is both genuine, overplayed, and beautiful. He was perfect. I took his hand, and he guided me over to one of my family's pool chairs and I obliged and sat down obediently. What am I? An obedient puppy? Nevertheless, I sat down because one: I was freezing and two: He was getting me a towel. Regardless, the least I can do is sit down for a few minutes.
He comes back over to the pool, towel in hand, and gives it to me. He sits in the chair next to me and watches me try and wring the chlorine-filled water out of my clothes, but it's no use, my clothes are still soaking wet. I give up in futile and strip down to my bathing suit I was wearing and throw my clothes over near the back porch door.
