As soon as the car rolled up in front of a house with a for sale sign covered with the word 'SOLD' in front of it I knew this had to be it. This is the first house we actually owned. The past 14 we rented. The new house was a pale brown with white shutters. It was two stories and had a few windows scattered on the front. It looked like a huge mansion. The house was a older house but had some updated features. I quickly grabbed a box labeled "Melody's room" and as soon as the car stopped at a halt, I jumped out and walked up the path walk and up the cobble stone steps that led to the front door.
I reached for the front door knob but before I turned it I looked around at the neighboring houses. I quickly saw a boy my ages look through the curtains of the house next door then walk away from the window. I just ignored it, turned the knob, and entered.
The house was beautiful on the inside. There was a grand stair case leading to the second floor with a crystal chandelier hanging over it.
I walked up the staircase to where the bedrooms and bathrooms were upstairs. All our furniture was already in the rooms so I just had to find my room. It took five minutes but I evenly found my room and put the box on the floor next to my bed.
My new room was huge. It looked like two rooms were combined. I had a walk in closet and a personal bathroom with a shower and a tub. I loved it. When I walked into the closet I noticed something on the wall. It looked like a map. After studying it closely I figured out that it was a map of the house. I put my finger on it and traced over it. While I traced over it I found a little button that blended in with the map. Since this was a old house I thought it could lead to a room that was covered up. How right I was. I clicked the button and the wall opened up. I was scared to enter because it was dark and full of cobwebs. Quickly, I ran in allowing it to shut behind me. As soon as the wall clicked back in place, lights flickered on in the room. It was a big room. There were many tunnels leading off of the room and a map on the wall.
"Melody, you should go to bed now since you have your first day of school tomorrow." I heard my mom yell down the hall way.
"Ok mom." I responded as I shimmied out of the room and back in my closet. I quickly unpacked the last box and went to sleep dreaming of what my first day of school would be like tomorrow.
