The Glowing Sea held the most horrifyingly large number of abominations I, nor any man, could even fathom possible. I'll spare you most of the details, as the regular encounters would be too repetitive to compile. However, there are some I remember quite vividly.
The first time I saw Radscorpions tunneling around, popping up only to cause mayhem, I was absolutely terrified. My sensors didn't pick them up if they were underground. I guess you could call it the most horrifying game of whack-a-mole in existence. Only these moles are highly poisonous, and aren't limited to existing holes.
Sometimes, Deathclaws would get into territory wars with the other creatures. If I would have been one of the scientists back at the vault, I probably would have stayed and studied the habits of Deathclaws and why they are so aggressive. The Deathclaw rarely lost. Luckily, the monster was usually able to be finished off with a blast close up of plasma.
I was wondering around, closer to the Commonwealth, looking to see if there was a gradual transition from west to east. There wasn't. I did however come across several dead animals and a dead deathclaw in a sort of nook in the wall of a cliff. I had just wandered around to take a look when he woke up. Despite the fact I was face-to-face with a deathclaw, I didn't run. After the day where everyone died, I read the last surviving pre-war book in the vault. At a certain point, I swore to never back down against one of the monstrosities. "The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you."
Eventually, the glow faded away. I was officially back home, in the Commonwealth. I made my way to the Vault that I left so long ago... I've come. Come to take my place. This was my Vault. There are many like it, but this one is mine. If the Vault had an overseer, then they better be ready to resign. The rightful heir has arrived.
