First Training Day

"Time to get up! Training starts in 15 minutes!" someone shouts in my ear. It was too early, but I tumble out of bed anyway.

"Okay Angel. I'll be ready." Angel smiles at me and then leaves the room. I trudge over to the closet and I pull out my "training outfit". Apparently they don't want us just wearing jeans, that would somehow be an outrage. I put them on quickly and throw my hair into a bun, loose, but secure enough to stay in. I head down the stairs along with Josh, who had just come out of his room as well.

We eat breakfast faster than normal and Angel leads us down where the training faculties were. The room was huge and training areas seemed endless. There was a rock climbing wall, camouflage kits, archery complete with moving projections & stand still targets... I could go on for eons. Angel leaves us and guards take us to a raised platform across the room. Josh goes first and I follow. Suddenly, we see the other tributes. My eyes skim the tributes, until my eyes connect with the blonde-haired one. I was surprised, he looked so different. His shoulders seemed broader, but he was only probably two inches taller. I then remembered his name. Niall. Niall Horan. We were still staring at each other until Josh nudges me and we walk over to our district's place.

"Welcome tributes. Here you will train for the games and see your strengths." Paul Higgins booms over the loud speaker (side note, Paul is the game maker), "You may begin." he finished.

We instantly turn to go to our already known strengths, well most of us that is. The young ones from the lower districts had no idea where to go. Anyway, Josh leaves me to go over to the station with the axes, but I turn my heel and I walk to the archery one. I pick up the bow and run my fingers down the rough, unbreakable frame. Compared to the one I had, this bow was dull and precise. Flynn and I had made my old one back in District 7 and I would've felt more comfortable using that one.

I look to my left and I see two girls and two guys. I was pretty sure their names were Faith, Petra, Finn, and Harry. But they were all conversing and auguring, so I pulled the string back. All four of their eyes immediately were focused on me, so I aimed and released. I didn't go for the cliche aim for the heart, but instead I struck the brain with a thud. They all had faces of mild shock. But Harry's developed into a sneer and he walks over the the nearest target and shots. He hits the center of the pelvic area that he was obviously aiming for. Oh great, just what I needed. An enemy that was dangerous and perverted. They all snicker and I turn around only to run into the tall girl.

"How did..." I start but she interrupts me. How did she get over here so quickly? This girl must have ninja moves or crazy running, who knows.

"You have a good shot from someone from District 7." she said bluntly. Her voice sliced the air like a knife. Talk about confidence.

"Thanks." I roughly tell the girl, whom I recognized as Petra. I turn away, but she grabs my shoulder.

"Don't worry about Harry. He was just trying to impress you and he is just a pig-headed show off." Petra whispers quietly. I nod my head and I give her a faint smile. I hoped we wouldn't face each other. Because she would demolish me in seconds... I stopped that thought. I couldn't afford to think that way, I would have no confidence what so ever to win. I had to return to Flynn and my family, and winning the games would be the only way.
