The bright light wakes me up, a headache instantly pounding in my head. White fills the entire room, except for a window in front of me.
"Where the hell am I?" I say to myself, sitting up from the floor. Old blood stains mark patches of the floor, sending shivers up my spine. I knew that I was not in a good place.
"Is anybody out there that can help me?" I yell, standing up and walking to the window. I look through and cup my hands around the corner of my eyes so I can see better. A white lab coat comes into view, followed by a few more.
"Hey! Help me!" I yell, banging on the glass. Suddenly, a deep voice booms through the room.
"Michael, please step away from the window."
I do as the man says and step away from the dark glass, walking backwards to the middle of the room.
Michael? I think to myself.
"I... I don't remember that being my name... I... I don't remember anything!" I say, looking down at my hands. I could feel my chest begin to rise and fall quicker and quicker as I try to recall anything that has happened before I woke up in this... place.
A teasing itch begins on my forearm. I instinctively scratch it but it just returns worse. My forearm starts to burn as I scratch harder and faster, but it still itches like crazy.
"What is happening to me? What did you do?!" I scream, continuing to scratch my arm. Blood started to seep out of the scratches, deep red liquid ran down my arm, dripping down onto the white floor.
The itch was driving me insane. I just could not stop scratching my arm, even though I had already broken through the first layer of skin. I scream at the pain as I see flesh start to fall off my forearm like rotting flesh.
"What the?!" I manage to say through my screaming, staring with horror at my arm. I could see my vision go blurry, and then everything went black...
I can hear the door unlock, then it being opened. Footsteps come closer and closer until they stop near me. I knew I had to get out of here before anything else happened to me, but I had to keep this man thinking I was in this state until the right time.
"He is out completely sir." A different man's voice says. He was very close, and now was the best chance I was going to get. My eyes dart open and I grab the man's arm tightly, hoping to push him over. I look down at the scientist’s arm, black veins show up where I touched him, making me feel queasy.
Suddenly, the itchy sensation started again all over my body.
"Ahhhh, sir! Sir! Sir!" The man repeated, backing away into the corner.
"No! No! No!" I scream, scratching all over my body.
The itch turned quickly into a violent burning sensation, and I can feel my skin rotting away. My piercing screams fill the air as I writhe around, my own flesh falling on the white floor...
~ 5 years later ~
I gasp for air; sweat covers my body and saturates my bed. I could feel the itch all too well, it felt all too real. The tingles of rotting flesh still nibble at my mind. I try to shake the nightmare away, but I am only reminded of the white room. I sigh and sit up, placing my head in my hands for support. Bright light shines through the broken window then a small bird lands on the window sill, avoiding all the broken glass. I stare at it for a while, admiring its blue and yellow feathers shinning in the sunlight.
