They all finished lunch early, so they went to their new classes to get to know them a bit. Annabeth had a class with Percy and Jason this time. "Aww I forgot my math textbook in my locker. I'll be right back." Percy said.
"I am so glad he brought that up because I forgot mine too." Jason said. Now Annabeth was left alone to explore the empty classroom. She looked around at the posters on the wall. One of them was a picture of a kitten on a branch with the words above it saying 'Hang in there!'.
"Hello." Said a voice. Annabeth didn't expect Percy to be back so quickly. But when she turned around, it wasn't Percy. Luke stood at the doorway. The scar on his face made him even more intimidating. Annabeth didn't know what to say.

Luke should've died. She saw it with her very own eyes, and yet he was here. He walked up to her, but Annabeth stepped back. Sensing her discomfort, he stopped.
"Annabeth," he said, "we need to talk."
"No," she said, "you need to talk and tell me what's going on."
"Hey Annabeth, I'm-" Percy stopped in his tracks, eying Luke up and down. Intimidatingly, he shut the door behind him. Percy walked up toward Luke.
"Hey, I'm not here to cause any-" Luke raised his hands up, but didn't have time to finish. Percy slammed him into the wall.

"What are you doing here?" Percy asked angrily. He glanced over at Annabeth. "Correction. What are you doing here with my girlfriend?"
"Listen, Percy. I've changed. I saw Annabeth in here looking a bit lonely and I wasn't going to say anything but-"
"You know what?" Percy hissed, "Your face looks lonely. Why don't you meet my fist?"
"Woah," Annabeth said as she pulled him off of Luke. "Let him explain first."
Luke brushed himself off and started talking.
"The gods have granted each of you a wish. I guess a bit of a gift for your senior year or something. Annabeth, Hades let me visit you for a year. That's why I'm here right now. Percy, they granted you-"
"Wait," Percy interrupted. "Let me guess: infinite blue food."
"You know," Luke said, "the gods had to chose something reasonable. "
"Aww man." Percy complained. Percy looked so sad that Annabeth actually felt kind of bad for him.
"As I was saying," Luke continued,"Percy, the gods granted you the wish of safety. For a year, don't worry about your loved ones getting hurt. They'll be ok. "
"What about the others?" Annabeth asked.
"As for Hazel," he said, "she is now relieved from her curse. So is Frank."
"What about Leo?" Percy asked.
"Leo gets his mom back. But there's more. He has to do it himself. The gods knew this would be the best gift for him. But they told me to warn him that this is not a good idea. It may change everything."

"Well what do we tell him then?" Annabeth inquired,"Obviously he's not going to pass the chance of saving his mom."
"I say we let him at least try." Percy said,"If anything goes wrong, he can always go back and change it." Just then the door opened and Jason stepped into the room.
