It was only after Vesper had left the half-Daemon to the Sanctuary that he realised how foolishly naïve he had been. He turned to leave the forest only to be surrounded by the Fallen forces, Zombies and Vampyres grinning at him viciously, the higher classes taking up defensive stances.

“Now, now, I’m sure we can come to some sort of compromise here, don’t you think? I’m sure I could offer you far greater than what you get from your master. Don’t you want to hear my offer? Well?” he panicked, backing away as the Dark Army advanced towards him.

“Give it up, Light. They’re hardly going to listen to Risen scum like you. Now, where are Felix and Fallon?” Malice demanded as she successfully shadow-walked onto the scene with Haru right behind her.

“Ah, Miss Ruin, finally, somebody reasonable. I’ll lead you directly to your friends, once you call off these rotting corpses of yours. Felix and the others are right past these walls, so-” Malice clicked her fingers, signalling for the Morphs behind the Risen man to move in for the kill. Quick as lightening the three Morphs erupted from the foliage and ripped Vesper apart.

“Sorry, Vesper, Reason isn’t here anymore,” she stated calmly before addressing Haru.

“Are all of our forces ready to mobilize, Commander?”

“Spoken like a true general, Malice-sama,” Haru chuckled, “Everyone is ready and awaiting your command. Do you have a plan?”

“It’s not really a plan so much as a well thought out theory. Basically, we go in, we kill all the Risen, let the half-breeds go, and hopefully not die. How’s that sound?” Malice replied, scanning the Sanctuary walls, pretending to know what she was doing.

“You know, Malice-sama, if we weren’t technically dead already, I think I might be very concerned right now,” her subordinate sighed.

“Well, I guess it’s a good thing we are technically dead then, isn’t it?”

After Salem had been thrown into the Sanctuary, the guards had placed what appeared to be an electric collar around his neck.

“Wouldn’t want you turning all fluffy on us, runt,” the guard had sneered when he put it on. So Salem was stuck in his human form, roaming through all the other hybrids in the hope of finding Felix and Fallon. He had tried asking one or two people, but nobody was speaking, they just hung their heads and rushed past him. Sighing, Salem sank to the ground next to one of the main walls surrounding the Sanctuary. He stuck his head in his hands, his long hair hiding his view of the world, a trait he was very thankful for at that moment.

“Salem.. I didn’t think you were ever going to get here.”

Salem never thought he’d be so happy to hear that musical voice, as he looked up to see Fallon smiling sadly at him.

“Fallon! I was so worried about you. Malice should be along soon too. Where’s Felix?” he asked, hugging the little girl in relief.

“I was hoping you knew where he was. I haven’t seen him in days. I’m so scared, Salem, I don’t want anything to happen him,” she sobbed, burying her face in Salem’s hair.

“Don’t worry, Fal, Malice will find him, and she’ll take care of us all. She always does.”
