The haze in Felix’s vision cleared as his hunger dissipated. Finally he sat back, gazing at Malice in horror. She lay in front of him, pain across her face, looking even paler than usual. Blood gushed from her neck and oozed from her lip, blending in with her crimson dreads. The half-Faerie crawled over to her, trying to wipe away the blood with the shirt he found discarded on the floor.
“Mal.. I love you too. Please get up. I can’t be the one to.. You can’t just.. Please, I just-”
' “Malice-sama, we need your help, Lord Ra has arrived, your father is-” Felix was interrupted by the arrival of Haru, who froze instantly at the sight of Malice.
“Y-you hurt Malice-sama.. You.. You’re going to pay for this, you worthless half-breed!” Haru charged at Felix, calling his own shadows to form a scythe-like weapon in his hands. Felix quickly dodged, but Haru was just as fast, spinning his scythe around and slicing Felix in the stomach. Felix growled, icy stakes forming in his hands as he prepared to fight his corner. Haru twirled his weapon above his head, quickly swinging it down, barely missing the half-Faerie’s shoulder.
Their miniature battle waged, and all the while Malice was slowly coming to. She lifted her head, trying to ignore the sudden dizziness. She vaguely wondered if she was still delirious, because a battle between Felix and Haru was the last thing she expected to wake up to.
“Haru, Felix, what the hell are you doing?” She asked, her voice steely. At the sound of her voice, the two boys spun towards her, both simultaneously dropping their weapons.
“Mallie!”
“Malice-sama!”
“Yeah, that’s my name don’t wear it out.”
Felix rushed to Malice, gripping her face in his hands, kissing her quickly before clutching her to his still bloody chest.
“Malice, I’m so sorry, please forgive me, I never meant to-”
“Malice-sama, your father is fighting Lord Ra, you must hurry,” Haru exclaimed, cutting across Felix again. Malice pulled away from her friend, rushing out of the tent, to find a battle field rivalling a world war. Bodies were strewn about the ground, both Risen and Fallen. The Zombies and Vampyres were in their element, happy with their corpse buffet, while everyone else that was left alive were only concerned with staying that way. But the most shocking thing of all was the battle that was taking place in the air between Lord Ra and Lord Ruin, a battle of Light and Dark, both evils in their own right.
Lord Ruin was shrouded in shadows, huge black feathered wings protruding from his back, and Ra was the opposite, surrounded by a blinding light, his white wings keeping him in the air. Lord Ra was wielding two, three and a half foot katanas, while Ruin swung right back at him with his own seven foot sword. The air rang with the sound of clashing metal as the two fought incessantly in the skies.
That was all Malice could watch though, because it was then that she saw Salem and Fallon in the distance, trying to fight off a few lowly Risen who thought they’d be better off fighting a child and a pacifist. Malice shadow-walked straight to the scene, arriving mid-air to kick one of them in the head with her spiked boots. Haru and Felix followed close behind, weapons flying as they fought off the Risen.
“Felix, you’re alright!” Fallon exclaimed, jumping onto the hybrid’s back. Felix merely grunted in response, sending icy kicks towards his enemies while the ten year old clung to his back. Malice’s eyes glowed red as she used fists of shadows to defeat their opponents, Haru following suit. The Risen were quickly defeated, but there was no time for celebration, because suddenly it felt like the whole world had come to a stand still. Lord Ruin fell from the skies, straight to the ground in front of Malice.
The King of Darkness was dead.
