To the boy that gave too much:
I'd like to say I'm sorry—
that I took and grabbed and stole. He only ever smiled, frightened.
He gave me all of his love,
and then his skin,
his bones,
and organs,
then tore out all his teeth
and palm spread wide filled with red soaked ivory bones.
Bloody roots hanging there, and I kept on asking for more.
A gory corpse with nothing left to give told me 'I just want you to love me,'
and I struggled to say,'I do.'
