Chapter 18.
The goblin-like creature approached him on all fours, crawling with a look of a canine. His teeth were filed down to points and they snapped at the air impatiently.
"Is it ready yet Masssssterr?" The goblin asked, hopping up onto the table and spilling a pot of vile looking green liquid. The table sizzled and hissed where the liquid touched, seeping through the thick wood and dripping onto the floor.
"FOOLISH CREATURE!" The boy growled, lashing out with his hand, a blast of energy forcing the goblin back against the wall.
It yelped and pulled at an invisible hand, trying to fight against the crushing force choking its airways. The goblin fell to the floor, gasping for breath and rubbing its neck tenderly.
"Masssterr." It said gingerly, "Iss it readyy?"
"No. But almost. We just need part of the boy. Some hair, or some blood. Yes...blood would be excellent. We will watch him bleed and then we shall take over his mind and body. And then he shall be ours."
The goblin jumped up and down on the spot gleefully. "Yesss...yess he will!"
The large snowy wolf that had been curled up in the corner arose, padding over to the goblin and sniffing at it, screwing her nose up.
"I know...the creature smells worse than any other. But just deal with him for a few minutes." The wizard told the wolf as if he was reading her thoughts.
"Prepare my dragon!" He ordered the goblin and added something else to the potion that rippled in a long round cauldron in front of him.
"Yess Massssterr Saker." The goblin nodded and bounded out of the room on all four spindly legs.
"I'm sorry Shadow." The name seemed ironic for a pure white wolf. He bent down to the wolfs level and looked her deep in those stunningly blue eyes. "I can't believe that King Rhaminn makes us work with those pathetic-" he stopped himself before he got too angry, he could feel his temper rising. "But soon we will have the boy, and then you can enjoy the company of another 'normal' being." He stroked her smooth head lovingly and smiled beneath his hood.
Saker stood up again and added a touch of blue fog into the potion, well, more onto it. The fog settled over the top of the liquid, moving contently a few millimetres above the surface. The potion however changed from a green tinged liquid into a stormy grey one. Shadows moved on the surface and the face of a blonde haired fifteen year old boy emerged.
The boy was chatting to his female friend, completely unaware of being watched. The scar on his neck rippled as he spoke. This boy was strongly built. He had progressed a lot from the weak rat that had first appeared in Novalon all that time ago. He was now a physical specimen. Perfect build. He was strong. He had larger biceps and had even developed a set of abdominals on his stomach thanks to his training, forming a six-pack. His icy blue eyes were bright and cheery and he seemed glad to be out of the prison of Novalon.
"Oh Alex West..." Saker muttered to the shapes in the liquid. "You will join us soon enough, won't you?"
Shadow's ears perked up and she raised her head, looking down into the potion and tilting her head to the side. Her head snapped to the side as a noise was heard down the corridors, a pattering of slimy feet.
The goblin burst into the room, panting deeply. "Massssterr Saker, your dragon. It isss ready..."
"Thank you. That will be all I need from you." The wizard said and began to walk towards the door, his head held high.
