Getting up to get ready for work, I took a quick 15 minute shower.
I moisterized my skin, slipped on underwear and a bra and then my work clothes.
Target may not be my dream job but it pays. There's not really many options when you haven't even graduated yet. But then again this is my first job, and most first jobs are shitty.
I slicked my natural curly hair into a low ponytail like I usually did for work. After grabbing everything I needed, I hopped in my ride. Which was a 2010 silver camry.
My mom and dad were already at work by now. My mom is a registered nurse and my dad is an accountant.
My phone began ringing in my lap. It was my bestfriend April.
"Yelloo?"
"You on your way here Cree?"
"Yeah I just pulled out the driveway. Give me 10 minutes."
"Alright. Boss lookin' for ya."
"Damn. Okay." I hung up the phone and sat it back in my lap.
That damn man always looking for me. He gave me a hard time, for what? I'm one of the best damn workers there. But he always wants me to be there.
I pulled up to work 8 minutes later and walked in making sure to check in.
April came up to me and grabbed my arm.
"Boss wanna see you." she said pulling my arm.
Nah he wanna bother me. It's cool though.
We made it to his little office and April stood at the doorway just in case I would need her. One thing I can say about her, she was always there for me and still is.
"You need me?" I asked. I was trying to get my shift over with & he was already making it hard.
"You're late Cree." he said looking at me.
"I'm pretty sure my shift starts at 2:30." I said in a duh tone.
"I asked you to be here earlier than 2:30. You don't remember that?" he said.
Of course I remember that, but quite frankly I have a life.
"Yes, but-" I started but he cut me off.
"Listen to me, when I tell you to be here earlier you do just that if you want that check. I'm the boss here." he said raising his voice.
"Yeah whatever." I said walking out. Even though he makes me want to break his damn neck, he was the one giving me my checks.
"Girl don't mind him. He on his man period or some shit." April said walking to her station which was behind mine.
