The makeup artist had done a fantastic job. She actually looked like her part. A spy.
Her skin had been made bruised, battered and her face showed weather-beaten marks. Her white shirt had blood gushing out of it. Well, ketchup has been the age old trick! She looked perfect for the scene. Makeup artist was just adding the final touch ups. A sexy spy, I beamed at my own reflection. Gun holster attached to my waist was a clear duplicate of the classic 9mm pistol, which added the drama. After all this was an action sequence, the climax of the movie. Finally, the artist is done making me look like this "holier-than-thou"spy.
The movie was called, "Best Kept Secret", a story revolving around a spy sent by USA, to a newly discovered island, which allegedly had some Russian space bases. Apart from the gruelling actions shots, one more thing attracted this movie to her. She was paired with Brenson. Yes, Adam Brenson. Girls all across the world, fainted, cried, shouted and did all sort of craziness on seeing him. He was the most sought after actor in Hollywood. She was a die-hard fan once too, and now a co-star. It was her dream debut. She was spotted, yes spotted, by Brenson, while she worked at a cafe, frequented by Hollywood starlets. A rags-to-riches story for her.
However, there was a dark side to him. His ex-agents, Hollywood insiders and paparazzi were all a testimony to it. It was said he had spilt personality. The usually suave, and affable Adam Brenson, was accused of all sorts of dark and dangerous things. She didn't believe it, anyways. He was "The Man" any women would want. Chiselled looks, a sharp strong jaw, thick black mane, a dimpled smile and a voice to die-for, he didn't appear anything of how he was portrayed.
Well, he played the baddie in this film. His acting skills, were never under challenge, and each time she saw him acting, her heart skipped a beat.
Today's scene involved a killing sequence. Oh! She would love to be killed by Adam.
The brief and the dialogue script had been given beforehand. She came out of the vanity van, doing final rehearsals of the dialogues in her mind. She didn't want to let Adam down.
The scene involved Adam pointing a gun at her, while she was tied to a tree. The set was in middle of the forest, deep in the middle of the night, thats how the Director wanted it.
She was set down against the tree by the assistants.
Adam, was standing in front of her. The baddie, had to wear a black jacket with ripped jeans, and had a similar pistol in his right hand. Her hip gun holster, according to the scene was kept away from at a hand's distance, to show that the baddie had taken it away from her and it had flung away while fighting.
Today was a simple scene. Some dialogues and a shot.
"You shouldn't have here" Adam said in his baritone voice.
"Were you not told how much we Russians love her secrecy. No one, and I reiterate, no one can invade it."
Somehow, she didn't feel as if he was acting today. It just seemed to good to be acting. There was a sincerity in his eyes. Well, maybe he is in his character.
Her eyes fell on his pistol.
It didn't look like hers. It seemed real. Her character was gagged by a cloth. The pain and fear in her eyes was now real. Plain fear.
The gun wasn't fake. It was a real gun.
Adam gave a sinister smile. This wasn't in the script.
"Goodbye" His final words. She was about to die. Panic gripped her so immensely that she couldn't untie the knot.
No one on the sets had the faintest idea. Scene was going as usual.
"Go back to your creator, dear" he said and shot the gun.
A deafening silence.
Before the Director could act, Adam had killed the character and his heroine.
She was dead. The reel death had caused a real death.
