Nym rarely did this, but she saw she had no other choice, she knew she would not be able to march her way into the human’s life, so she had to stalk him. Still dressed in her clubbing clothes, she waited outside of his house, watching him as he paced his living room. He left his light on so bright that she could see him perfectly. Being a Siren, and the eldest of the Sirens, she had enhanced abilities, the typical superhuman strength, superhuman hearing and sight and she could usually tell when someone was not human, because Sirens do not like collecting the souls of nonhuman men, they just did not have the same flavor. She had switched cars with one of her sisters, knowing that her Porsche might be a bit too noticeable in the run down town.

She watched as a car pulled up to the house, and a beautiful brunette came out of the car. She looked a little flustered as she knocked on the door. Was this the human’s girlfriend? Nym could feel herself getting excited.

“Dax! Open the door!” The girl yelled. So, the human’s name was Dax? Nym had simply followed him to his house; she had never learned his name.

Dax came out of the house and quickly embraced the girl.

                “When?” He asked her.

“Ten minutes before I called you, I thought I was just day dreaming, but it was too real.” Nym thought about what she said, and as she looked at the girl, she quickly realized that she was not human. Nym smiled to herself, that made everything so interesting. They shut the door and Nym stripped herself of her clothes, and opened her door, sliding out of the car. She closed her eyes and let her other nature consume her, turning herself into a small mocking bird. Birds were considered Sirens’ pets, when in actuality most birds were Sirens, at least in the old times. She flew herself up to a window ledge, and listened in their conversation.

“What were they about?” Dax said, taking hold of the girl’s hands.

“It was her, again. They felt so real, so vivid.”

“But, Dev, you know that they aren’t, you aren’t really seeing into the future, because that is impossible.”

“But it was so real!” She cried, burying her head in her hands. “How could it be fake?!”

“Because, it is your disorder that makes you think it is real.” Nym looked at the girl, and the more she stared at her the more she realized she was a Seer. Her elegant beauty, her kindness, her trust, the way she drew people, even Nym, the signs of a Seer were written all over her. For once, and maybe the only time in her life, panic rose in Nym. Seers were notorious for their good nature, and their ability to kill creatures that cannot be killed, such as Sirens. Thousands of Sirens used to inhabit the world until Seers deemed them bad for humanity and decided to hunt them down one by one, and now all that is left is Nym and her sisters.

“But…they are getting more vivid, like she is getting closer and Dax; these visions never end nicely for you!”

“But, Devony, they are not real!” Dax told her, trying to make her listen. “I love you because you are my sister, but I will take you back to that asylum if you keep claiming that the visions are real.”

“No, Dax, please don't!” Nym looked at the brother and sister and realized that they were both going to have to die, but Dax was first. Nym was becoming annoyed with herself; she was finding herself attracted to the plain human. Now, she had to get him to fall for her and end his life before she grew too attached.

Nym flew away, not interested in their argument any longer, and headed back to her car. She dressed herself and then pulled away, thinking of what she was going to do. She knew she could not just waltz her way up to him, and claim him as hers; he would quickly turn her down. She had to ease herself onto him, and she found that quite annoying, but she was not going to let the human best her. She made her way to her downtown office. It did not matter that it was one in the morning, the employees there worked around the clock, at least for her. And not everyone in the office was necessarily human.

She slid her I.D. card and the doors opened.

“Ms. Spevák, what are you doing here so late?” Nym’s receptionist asked.

“I have to do some hunting.” She said, looking at the green haired woman, though it was only those of the supernatural world who saw through the Nymph’s disguise, to humans her hair was blonde, and her eyes a light hazel.

“Find another human that spiked your interest, Siren?” She asked, with a knowing smirk. Nym glared at her for using her species name and then nodded.

“Look up a human male named Dax, the name should not be common and he lives at 3424 Hollowin Street.” Nym said, walking to the side where she could see Cyrene’s computer. A picture of Dax popped up in seconds.

“Is that him?” Cyrene said, disbelief oozing out of her voice.

“He is not my normal prey, no, but he is intriguing. And guess what his sister is.” She told the Nymph, taking the keyboard and typing in his sister’s name. The Nymph did not answer, but waited for her picture to show up.

“No.” She gasped. “I thought that they were just about all gone!” Nym felt it strange that she had not noticed that the girl was a Seer before; maybe she had just been distracted by the idea of killing Dax that she had missed the signs. “That self-righteous bunch of scum, they should have died out years ago. What are you going to do with her?”

“Kill her of course. She has no knowledge of her powers, no doubt that the humans have slapped some disease on her and labeled her insane. But, she must die before she realizes her potential, and I believe I have to kill Dax before I even meet the girl, because she may be having visions about me.” Nym said, thinking back to what the girl said about having visions about a woman and how they did not end well for Dax.

“She could have the power to kill you and your sisters.” Cyrene said, meeting her orange eyes with Nym’s white ones.

“She could, but she won't.” Nym said with full certainty, there was no way she was allowing this Seer to gain knowledge of her powers, because that would mean the end of her and her sisters

“You could kill her first, you know.”

“Yes, but that would ruin my ability to take her brother’s soul.”

“Is his soul really that important that you would risk your sisters’ lives?” Cyrene said with distaste in her voice.

“Do not judge me, Nymph, or I will make sure your death is slow. It is not his soul that it is important, it is the competition that is important.” Nym said, but she could feel that she wanted to make his soul his, the idea that no one else could take his soul appealed to her as much as the idea of taking men from their wives did. She was going to make the human hers, and kill his sister, if it was the last thing she was going to do.
