"I! Need! Details!" shouted Amanda as she let herself into my house, interrupting the show I wasn't watching. Less than five seconds later, she was almost sitting on my lap, as Noah, Thomas, and Kelsey sat themselves on the other couch and on the floor."How was your date, Chloe?" Kelsey asked.
"We missed you yesterday," Noah offered.
"I bet you didn't have nearly as much fun as we did," Thomas said.
"Yeah, because you were clearly enjoying yourself," Amanda shot back sarcastically. "Now, can you people shut up so that she can answer?"
At that, all heads turned to me, and I felt a blush creeping onto my cheeks. Sure, we'd talked about girls/boys before, but talking about a previous date of mine was all new to me.
"It was fun," I said simply, a victorious feeling spreading over my chest as I watched Thomas's confused expression.
"Fun? How could it have been fun?"
"Let me guess," Kelsey said. "Logan didn't take Tom seriously?"
"Actually, we did decorate his house," I admitted.
"And you enjoyed it?" asked a horrified Thomas.
"I did," I nodded. "So, thank you, I guess."
"What else?" Amanda prompted. "Did you kiss?"
I hesitated. Somehow, it felt private. I wanted to keep what happened yesterday between Logan and I.
"OH MY GOD!" Amanda squealed, making all of us jump slightly. "You totally did!"
Well... I guess it wasn't that private anymore.
I felt like my cheeks were burning. "Maybe..."
"That's great!" Kelsey exclaimed.
"Yeah," Noah agreed before turning to a silent Thomas. "Hey, man, how about we go take a walk?"
"Since when do you guys take walks?" Amanda laughed.
Both Noah and Thomas ignored her. "I don't feel like it."
"Hey, man," Noah repeated more slowly. "How about we go take a walk?"
Thomas raised his eyes, looked at Kelsey, at Amanda, and then set his eyes on me. He left them there for a second too long, then got up. "Sure," he mumbled before making his way to the front door, Noah following closely.
"That was weird," Amanda commented as soon as the door shut.
Kelsey made a noise of agreement. "I wonder what's up with them."
I shrugged. "It's not like they haven't behaved weirdly before," I said, and both of my friends agreed.
"Chloe!" I heard a harsh whisper. "Are they gone?"
I rolled my eyes, not even bothering to look behind me, as I knew my brother well enough to guess he was most likely hiding behind the wall that separated the kitchen and the living room. "What do you want, Parker?"
There was a pause. "Ice cream."
"Don't we have some in the freezer?" I asked, annoyed.
Another pause. "I'll be right back."
Amanda raised an eyebrow at me. "What's with him?"
I shrugged helplessly. Sometimes my brother just made me lose all faith in this family.
Amanda made a noise then sat straighter. I could suddenly imagine flashing lights all around her head with signs that said 'danger ahead'. "Anyway, all weirdness aside, tell me what happened with Logan!"
