The day was already hot, as the wind blew dust into the air, then let it settle. I looked over the massive town, sitting upon the roof of my parents house.
My father had been called here a year ago for business, and a week ago, my mother announced we would be moving here.
I squeezed my knees, oh how I would missed Alabama. Suddenly a voice broke through my thoughts. "Melody! Darling! Come help your father!" I sighed, and obliged.
I found my father, sitting in his office. "Melody darling I need help carrying the paperwork from the car, could you possibly-" I interrupted him. "Yes father."
Once I got the paper work, I spotted something on the paper, it got me quite worried. I shook my head, and laid my worrying aside about everything and took the papers to my father.
He thanked me, and as soon as I began to walk away, I bumped into someone. I fell onto the floor, my hazel eyes wandered up the figures body, stopping at his blue eyes.
"Sorry are you wounded younger lady?" Asked the husky voice. He had offered his hand for me, and I gratefully accepted. "I'm fine Mr. Vortex." I smiled.
Mr. Vortex was a man in his late forties, but wealthy. He was making a agreement with my father about getting 10% of the business.
Mr. Vortex smiled, as I walked away. He turned to my father while I was still in earshot, and spoke once more. "Can I invite you over for dinner tonight? My son is the same age as your daughter, I have a feeling they could be friends."
My father accepted, and I went to unpack my things.
