Chapter 1: The Beginning

Prologue
The smell of burning flesh filled my nose. I had been the only one of my group to escape the fire, the only hope for my school to win. Of course I was only the healer...

....and the fact that I was immobilized at the moment didn't help.
I felt some kind of liquid dripping into my eyes, and with growing horror realized it was blood.

Chapter 1
Yuri stood anxiously at her stop, in her dark grey sweater, blue jeans, and converse, waiting for her bus. She had just moved to this town yesterday because her dad had gotten a job offer. The wind whipped her long, honey colored hair around to her face.
Finally, after about 15 minutes, the yellow school bus rounded the corner. The bus driver looked to be a kindly old man with rounded cheeks and wispy, graying hair. He gave her a smile as she boarded the bus to Edison High.

Yuri sat quietly in her homeroom, intently reading a book. She had gotten there 30 minutes prior, so that she could have time to read a good amount before she had to go to first period. She was so engulfed in what she was reading that she didn't notice the completely innocent looking girl coming up to her. She wore a pink dress that looked like it was somewhat 40s styled, with a white Peter Pan collar. Tall, brown lace-up boots came up to just below her knee. She had a pin with Natsu from Fairytail on it pinned to her chest. It gave the outfit a more edgy feel. She tapped Yuri on the shoulder. "Hey you're new here, right?" Yuri looked up with an annoyed face and nodded. "Well, no need to be rude about it." The girl complained. Just as the girl was about to leave, she plucked the book out of Yuri's hands and ran. "HEY! COME BACK HERE RIGHT NOW! THAT'S A LIBRARY BOOK!" Yuri yelled while in pursuit of the girl. The girl turned a sharp corner and slid into a room, promptly closing the door behind her and locking it, as evident by the click. Yuri looked at the sign next to the door which read:

Art Room

Yuri glanced through the window and saw the girl making faces at her. Yuri silently smirked to
herself. She had remembered once being fascinated with spy's and had tried to learn all there was to know, even getting those little spy books that had all the crappy gadgets. During that time, She'd learned how to pick a lock, and she could do so quite well. Yuri set to work on the door and finally heard a satisfying click. She opened the door to find the girl with a shocked expression on her face. "Yep, I know how to pick locks." She said smugly. "You're cornered now!" She shouted, with a triumphant smile spread across her face. Yuri snatched the book out of the girls hands and proceeded to run back to study hall.

Yuri ran with the girl on her tail, until she bumped into two strangers. They were two boys, one with raven black hair, and another with dirty blonde hair. The one with dirty blonde hair helped her up. She then continue to study hall. The girl grabbed Yuri by the wrist and dragged Yuri to her to her friends.

Cole: "Kiko-chan what did you do now?"

Kiko: "Cole-kun she had the book I was looking for."

Zander: "Let me guess Kiko-chan you needed another book for drawing purposes."

Yuri: "SO THAT'S WHAT THIS IS ABOUT!"

Zander: "Its her habit and Kiko-chan does not like to talk that much."

Faith: "Kiko-chan say your sorry."

Yuri: "Finally someone understands that this is not funny."

Kiko: NEVER! *Runs off*

Zander: No more cupcakes then!

Kiko: *runs back* *bows* Gomen'nasi! My name is Hope, they call me Kiko.

Yuri then tightens her grip on the book incase Hope steals it.

Faith: Next Kiko-chan please say it in english, I'm pretty sure she doesn't understand Japanese like us.

Yuri: I'll have you know I do! My name mean Lily in Japanese.

Kiko: *Munches on cupcake* Yummy!

Faith: *Giggles* I'm pretty sure some of us did not listen *motions towards hope*

Cole picks up hope for a piggy back ride.

Kiko: "Weee!"

Zander: "Do you want to come with us?"

Faith: "I'm pretty sure we should leave before someone bans us from the library."

Yuri: It's study hall!

Cole: "Whatever, you coming or not?"

Yuri: "Sure why not!"

Hope: "Why does the sour cow got to come Cole-kun?"

Yuri: "HEY! I'm not a cow!"

Zander: *chuckles* "Cause you got her angry."

Hope: "We get to skip first period cause we are 'watching' the art room cause last time it got destroyed."

Yuri: "And I wonder who's fault that is."

Zander: "You want a cupcake?"

Yuri: "Me?"

Kiko:" I DO!"

Zander: "no Kiko-chan the other girl."

Yuri: "Yes, of course!"

As they walk to art room a sudden explosion can be heard from the other side of the build

Kiko: What was that?

Yuri: "I'm wondering the same thing."

Cole: "Question later right now we need TO LEAVE!"

Kiko gets off Cole's back and they start to run to the nearest exit. The building is starting to catch fire from the explosion.

Yuri: "Who did that!?"

Kiko: "I have a feeling, I Know who."

Yuri: "WELL TELL ME I DON'T WANT TO BE LEFT IN THE DARK!"

Cole: "There is no time we should start running far away from here."

Faith: *pulls out sword* "Your right but it's to late."

Zander: *pulls out sword* "There's no escaping this time. We have to compete this time."

Hope: "Do not worry Yuri! We will all be on the same team since we are being taken together!" *Pulls out Katanas*

Yuri: "Where the heck are you getting your weapons?!"

Cole: *pulls out bow and arrows* "What are you talking about? Aren't you being hunted for the games?"

Yuri: "I have no clue what is going on."

Hope: "It looks like you will be our healer then."

Then a bright light comes and takes them away.
