ー"taehyung, I hate it here. I hate staying here." jungkook sobbed as he clutched onto taehyung's shirt, heavy tears rolling down his cheeks within the darkness of the night.

"kookie, it'll be okay," taehyung said before shushing the other, holding the small boy closer to his chest, scared one of the older sisters would bust into the attic, where they were separated from where all the other kids slept.

"even the kids are mean to me. they've called me a bunch of names and they hate both of us now." taehyung hurriedly wrapped another blanket around the younger who seemed to be shivering. it was already winter, making the attic twice as cold as it was compared to downstairs.

"i'm so sorry, tae." jungkook finally said before looking up where he had been crying on taehyung's chest, tears rolling down his cheeks and he loudly sniffled.

"why are you sorry? you've never done anything wrong." taehyung said before craning his head to the side in bewilderment. "I was supposed to live in the attic alone but you yelled at them and you got dragged up here with me. you could be with all the other kids in the warmth with hot chocolate and-" taehyung shushed him before he could continue, a sad smile on his face.

"i'd never want to do that, kook."

jungkook stopped crying then, only quiet sniffles able to be heard within the room. taehyung lifted the younger in his arms, carrying him towards the wrecked mattress where they both slept. "i'm not tired, tae," jungkook responded quietly, looking out the broken window which carried in cold air. "I can't sleep in this temperature even with the blankets. we only have two blankets, tae." jungkook pouted and taehyung quickly stood up.

"it should be the middle of the night right now. i'll go sneak a few more blankets for us." jungkook widened his eyes before quickly shaking his head, holding the hem of taehyung's shirt before the blonde could move anywhere.

"the older sisters are going to yell at you if you leave, tae. if you get caught, you won't be able to eat anything." jungkook pouted and taehyung ruffled his hair. "you're cold, and my health is less important than yours." jungkook frowned even more before slowly nodding - yet taehyung could tell he wanted to argue with his statement. "fine."

the creaky door would be heard closing a few seconds later before taehyung slowly walked down the stairs, making sure to not make any noise. he was on the upper floor where all the kids were sleeping, going to the main floor where all the lights were closed, only the moonlight creaking through the rays of the closed windows.

it was a lot warmer than it was in the attic, and taehyung spotted a few of the childrens coats in the corner of the room. they weren't blankets but they'd most definately help. he passed by the couch and towards the corner of the room where all of them were. he was close to reaching for them until he heard the sound of footsteps from the hallway, immediately hiding behind the couch in panic.

putting a hand close to his chest, he muffled his heavy and nervous breathing onto his other hand when he heard the sound of one of the older sisters talking to another one of the other older sisters in the darkness of the room.

"yeah, your shift is over. i'll stay here for the next few hours just to make sure nothing happens or if one of the kids wake up." the other girl could be heard humming before the sound of footsteps started to fade away. taehyung nervously chewed his lip before looking from the end of the couch, spotting the back of one of the olders sisters making herself a drink.

"taehyung, I hate it here. I hate staying here."

slowly raising himself from the couch, he first looked across the room and towards the window where heavy snow could be seen.

snowstorm?

he then looked towards the coat rack beside him, taking one one last look at the older sister across the room before taking a deep breath.

it was all too fast. the sound of the coats making the older sister turn around, spotting a shadow carrying two of the coats before running up the stairs.

taehyung felt fear and excitement run through his veins. he ran to upstairs where the older sister could be heard far behind him, screaming in anger. running to the attic, taehyung slammed the door open before locking it from inside, running up to jungkook who had a scared look on his face.

"tae, what's happening?" jungkook said with nervousness and taehyung didnt have time to explain before telling jungkook to wear the coat. the sound of harsh knocking on the door could be heard seconds later and jungkook rushed up from the mattress, running towards taehyung who was struggling to open the window.

"jungkook, i'll explain to you later. for now, find a rope. it's an attic. there must be something here we can use. were going to escape." taehyung said hurriedly, opening the broken window before looking down. they were on the third floor.

"tae, I can't find anything!" jungkook said and flinched when the knocks got twice as loud, almost as if they were trying to break down the door.

taehyung looked at jungkook suddenly and jungkook froze in his spot. "kook, do you trust me?" it took him less than a second to reply by rapidly shaking his head up and down.

before jungkook knew it, taehyung had picked him up, wrapping jungkook's legs around his waist, holding onto him tightly before looking out the window. "wait, tae-" the younger didn't have time to finish his sentence before he was falling with taehyung under him, holding him closer to his chest.

they had both fell into a pile of bushes, taehyung desperately trying to hold in his scream and he felt pain immediately strike through his body. "jungkook, are you okay?" jungkook had been full-on sobbing at that point, hiccups leaving his throat as he tried to pick taehyung up. "I should be asking you that!"

taehyung felt the door break open from above and he widened his eyes, standing up before groaning, pain flowing through his body. "we need to hurry." taehyung took jungkook's hand at that and jungkook put his arm on his back, trying to help him run. "where are we going though?"

"anywhere, anywhere away from here."
