Thank you to all those who voted for BTLBOMH!!! I told you guys a chapter of Pixies for every 100 votes and I'm keeping to my word. However, I'm going to have to change that to every 200 votes starting today. I can't keep up with you guys!
Ashlyn
I ran through the halls back to my room. As soon as my door was shut, I uncovered myself. “Kenny, we’re in danger here. King Ethan said it himself. He’s having the doors and windows sealed as I speak.”
“Ash, I can’t transport everybody outside and you can’t make everybody disappear,” Kenny said, scared.
“We’re going to die here.” I spoke the obvious.
“No, you’re not,” Kali said from the door. “Ashlyn, he was being an ass.” She finished walking into the room, and sat on the little bed. “Look we’re all stuck here. There’s no way out. Besides, it’s more dangerous out there right now than it is in here. I can’t tell you what’s going on, it’s not my position, but I can tell you you’re here for your own safety. However, they won’t put up with your guys’ crap either. So try and behave as best as you can, and we’ll get out of here.”
I sat down on the bed looking to the floor. “I don’t trust him,” I admitted.
“I’m not saying you have to. I’m saying behave and don’t try to escape. You won’t get far, and you’ll get in trouble.”
“I don’t think I want to escape.” The words that left my mouth shocked me as much as everyone else. “I feel like I belong here.” Kali and Kenny both looked at me as if I was on drugs. “It’s probably because the whole family’s here. I need to protect them and I don’t have anywhere else to go without them.” That sounded like a good answer to me. I always felt I belong with my family and out of place when they weren’t nearby.
“You’re probably overtired. You’re not used to being up at night. It’s close enough to morning. You can go sleep. I don‘t think they‘ll bother you. Sorry, they’re making you stay awake at night, but you’ll get used to it soon.” Kali said going to the door.
I laid hiding behind Kenny, but after staying awake all day and all night, not even fear could keep me awake. This time no one pounded on the door or yelled at us to wake up. They didn’t want us awake during the day. King Ethan decided to keep us up at night so we’d sleep during the day, making it easier to watch us. He pulled his guards away from our doors and replaced them with dogs. He said the dogs that stood guard during the day would hurt us if they had to stop us from escaping our rooms. No humans, and as of recently, pixies, are allowed to roam free during the day.
King Ethan’s rule didn’t stop me when I woke up scared. I snuck out of bed from behind Kenny with a strong urge to go to someone else, someone safer. Flapping my wings to build up a cloud of dust, I stepped back into it to allow it to camouflage my body. I tiptoed out of the room, silently creeping around those big dogs and underneath my cousin Molly and her master, Paul. They were sleeping in a small hole in the wall above them.
I followed my urge up a stairwell that Amber and her husband, Lucas were sleeping under. I past Kali and King Ethan’s room, and farther down the hallway. I was in a hallway among the strongest and most powerful vampires, a place I never thought I’d go down alone again. Thankfully, I was invisible and I don’t think they can attack what they can’t see.
I turned facing a wooden door, and nervously, I reached for the doorknob. I shouldn’t be here. I shouldn’t be doing this, but something inside me was telling me to. I listened for any noise inside, noticing silence. I glanced behind me. The only ones in the hallway were my Aunt Becca and her master, Charlie. They were sleeping behind a big vase. All Bardados make horrible guards during the day, they’re very heavy sleepers. I opened the door.
