-Cassandra's POV-

"No you can't talk to her alone." I said, pulling Andrea's arm out of Jeff's grasp. He glared at me and I instantly felt scared, but composed my face quickly. By the irritation on his face, I knew that he didn't notice my fear. "Why don't you talk to her in front of everyone?" I asked, determined not to let anything he did make me back down. Andrea shot me a grateful look and I moved in front of her. If this Jeff guy wanted to hurt Andrea, he'd have to go through me.

"Because it's personal." he replied, taking a step closer to me. I walked towards him slowly, placing my right hand on his shoulder so I could whisper in his ear. "Personal my ass." I whispered, pushing him away from me with so much force that he fell to the ground. He recovered pretty quickly, jumping right back up and glaring at me with a murderous look in his eyes.

"You shouldn't have done that." he said, advancing towards me. He raised his arms to backhand me, but I kneed him in the balls before he could hurt me. "And you, my friend, shouldn't have done that." I said, grabbing Andrea's arm and pulling her out of the store. We walked to the Macy's and then someone tapped my shoulder. I turned around and felt someone punch my gut. I fell to the ground and vaguely remembered being dragged to somewhere more secluded. While I got beaten up, I slowly slipped into unconsciousness, hearing the protests of Andrea.

When I opened my eyes, I was in an unfamiliar white room. A curtain blocked me from the rest of the world. Next to my bed was a wheelchair. A tray containing uneaten food lay on the bedside table. Behind me was what I assumed to be a breathing monitor. It wasn't turned on though, so it wasn't doing anything useful. Oh chizballs, I'm in the hospital.

From under the curtain, I saw a pair of feet pacing back and forth. It was probably either Matt and Andrea. Definitely not Sky. My heart throbbed at the thought of that. Skyler probably hated me now. But I was determined to make things right. I really didn't want to deal with anyone now so I decided to pretend that I was asleep. "Cassie?" Matt called out, placing a hand on my arm. No one had ever called me Cassie before. It had always been Cass, Sandra, or Cassandra. Cassie was sweet though. I almost smiled at the thought. At Matt's contact, my skin tingled. "You awake?" he asked me, and when he didn't get a response he said, "Guess not."

"Cassie, what are you doing to me?" he asked me. Wait, what was I doing to him? I don't think I did anything bad to him. "You're all I think about, nothing else. You're funny, smart, beautiful, kind, caring, and most of all you're a good person. I want you so bad. And I need you. I know you have Skyler and love him which is why I'm telling you know when you're asleep. I need to get this off my chest. Because I can't steal you from Skyler, I'll go back to being dead at the end of this week and leave you both alone. Cassie, I think I'm falling in love with you." he said gently.

Aww.... Happiness flooded towards me. Matt loved me back! But he'd be gone soon if I didn't confess how I felt. How I've always loved him and how Sky and I have been having issues. But I couldn't hurt Skyler. What am I gonna do?

-Matt's POV-

You did the right thing, the voice in my head told me. Well if I did the right thing, then why did I feel like crap? That's right, because I didn't want to let Cassandra go. But how could I be so selfish? She was such a good person and there was no way I'd make her go through the pain of picking either me or Skyler. It wasn't right. And isn't there that saying, "if you love something set it free"? Well, that's what I was going to do. I was going to let Cassandra free and if she wanted to she could come back to me or whatever. It was her decision. No way in hell was I going to push her.

"Where is she?" Skyler asked, bursting into the waiting room, glaring at me. Oh perfect, he probably thought I did it. I pointed at her hospital room and he brushed past me without a word. Wow, angry much? Whatever, I could see why he was angry. Because he hurt Cassandra and next thing he knows, she ends up in the hospital. What would Skyler say to Cassie? Was she even awake? Oh god, what if she was? Then she'd have heard my speech!

No, I told myself, There's no way that she was awake. After all, she didn't respond to me and her eyes were closed and everything. I closed my eyes, resting against the wall. It was so thin, so I could hear the conversation going on inside.

"Cass?" Skyler called out gently. A scraping noise was heard so he must have moved the wheelchair or one of the other chairs out of the way. "Are you awake?" he asked, and I couldn't help but notice the tenderness that was there. He truly loved her, and here I was, telling his girlfriend that I loved her! God, I'm such an idiot! I banged my head on the wall, much harder than I intended to. "Ow." I moaned, rubbing the back of my head. Serves you right, the voice in my head told me. DAMN THAT VOICE!

"Sky, I'm....I'm so sorry." Cassandra said, her voice instantly grabbing my attention. The way her voice sounded, it was so silky and smooth, yet soft at the same time. Wow, I had it bad. I twiddled my thumbs, eavesdropping on the conversation that was taking place. I had to know what she was saying. "No, I'm sorry." Skyler said, sighing heavily. "I shouldn't have snapped at you. It's just, I've had a bad past and it's all coming back to me." Lamest excuse ever, if you ask me.

"No, not about that." she told him, gently, her voice cracking a little bit. My ears grew even more eager at this sentence, sensing that something good was going to come out. I became excited, banging my fists gently against the wall behind me. "Skyler, I love Matt." she said, and my breath instantly caught. "I still love you, but not as much as I love him. I'm sorry, but things obviously aren't working between us. It's over."

WHAT THE HELL WAS SHE SAYING? Skyler was going to come after me! I'll be dead meat! Skyler would dissect me while I'm alive! I was supposed to get a second chance of life and they want Skler to end it for me. Well that's just peachy...not.

"Matt...come on." Andrea said, appearing from behind me. I jumped at the sound of her voice, then smiled sheepishly at her while she skeptically looked at me. Caught in the act.  She took my hand and dragged me over to the waiting area. I took the seat beside her and before I could stop myself, I blurted out, "Cassie loves me." Andrea took in a sharp breath, covering her mouth with her hands. Jeez, why do girls always do that? It's so weird.

"I KNEW IT!" she exclaimed, jumping up, and pumping a fist in the air. She earned quite a few appalled looks but she just brushed it off. "What about Skyler?" she asked me. I shrugged, totally unsure about what he'd do. But I knew one thing for sure. There was no way that Skyler was going to let me get out of this alive.

"YOU!" an accusing voice said from behind me. I turned around to meet the angry face of Skyler. Holy Schnitzel, I was screwed.
