This is the end! And I know the story is short, but they don't call it short story for nothing! xD

-Matt's POV-

I was so nervous, my palms were shaking. It was my first actual date with Cassandra. Sure, I've been on dates before, but I just felt super nervous about this particular one. I thought Cassie would be leaving the hospital the same day she was admitted, but they wanted to keep her in there for another two days. But, thanks to a lot of begging, pleading, and a little flirting, I got her out of there yesterday. She was on strict orders to rest the entire day so we couldn't do anything. I would have gone to talk to her, but Andrea had to be stupid and just go and ruin everything! She told me I couldn't visit Cassandra, so I spent all day worrying about how today was going to go.

"Excited for your date?" my sister, Lisa, asked me, ruffling my hair gently. I laughed without humor. Yes, I was excited, but at the same time, I did not want to go on the date. "Awww come on Matthew, it'll be fun! As long as Cassandra's there, nothing else matters right?" Gosh, her and her sappy love story visions. Even though Cassie was going to be there, doesn't mean that I won't be extremely nervous. And thanks to Andrea,  I spent the last day becoming a nervous wreck! "Here, I'll help you pick stuff out, okay?"

I nodded, not trusting my voice to speak. She dissappeared into my closet, throwing many of my clothes onto my bed, even my favorite Ryan Zimmerman jersey. Yeah, I'm a huge Nats fan! "Watch it," I grumbled under my breath, low enough that she wouldn't hear me. I wasn't just nervous about the date, I was also nervous about making my decision. I don't know why, but I kept feeling like I'd regret the decision, but how could I? I'd have Cassandra with me, wouldn't I?

"FINALLY!" Lisa exclaimed, definitely overexxagerating. She threw her arms up in the air out of fake tiredness, letting out a heavy sigh. I just rolled my eyes at her. She was freaking ridiculous. But, I still loved her. I turned around to look at her, and saw what she was holding in her hands. In her right hand was a black t-shirt which she paired with my leather jacket. She included my dark blue jeans and beat up Vans. "This will actually make you look decent," she said, wrinkling her nose in disgust as she looked me over.

"Even looking like this, I still look better than you," I replied, lightly slapping her back. I grabbed the clothes and went into the bathroom to prepare myself.  I decided to just leave my hair how it naturally is, instead of trying to move it out of my eyes and all that crap. Wow, I sound like such a girl now. Look at what Cassandra's doing to me!

In a matter of about thirty minutes, I was somewhat content with the way I looked. Key word: somewhat. No matter how hard I tried to make myself look good, I knew that Cassandra would always beat me by far. After all, she was so much more amazing than I was. I walked outside and was bombarded with complaints by Lisa. "Oh for the love of fries." I muttered, heading into my room and locking her out. Things definitely were going back to normal around here.

Well, actually, not really. My family and I had grown close over the past few days. My dad even took yesterday off of work to spend time with me. It was a shocking move, but much appreciated. We did stuff that we hadn't been able to do in a while. We played games, went bowling, laughed, smiled, and ate dinner together, without one argument. It was unusual, but hey, I wasn't complaining. It was a nice change from the constant yelling, screaming, and even sometimes, hitting.

I glanced at my watch and saw the time. It was seven. Cassandra would be hear any minute. And I'd be anxiously waiting until the doorbell rings.

Five minutes past, then ten, then fifteen. I was getting more and more nervous with each passing minute. My palms were clammy! "OH FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY!" I yelled up at my beige celing, infuriated. Just then, the doorbell rang, and I raced forward to open it. Once I did, I saw the most beautiful girl in the world standing right in front of me.
