Hey, guys! This isn't a tag, but I figured this book would kinda go to waste if it were only for the random and infrequent tags I get. Anyways, these are just some thoughts.
I'm currently suffering from jetlag right now, so it's around 3:00 AM and I'm not sleepy at all. Therefore, my brilliant solution was to watch YouTube in the dark for three hours until everyone finally decides to wake up.
So anyways, I was scrolling through YouTube when I found one of AmazingPhil's super early videos. It barely had any views, but it was just him goofing around and being adorable. At the end of the video, I scrolled down to the comments and a lot of them were like "too deep into the phandom" or "haha casually bingeing (present progressive tense of "binge". Is that how you spell it?) AmazingPhil and danisnotonfire at 12 AM". Honestly, same. There were a couple of types of comments that really caught my eye, though. Basically, a lot of people were happy that this little niche in the phandom exists because these types of undiscovered/generally unknown things feel a lot more personal than the videos they make that millions of people have seen. Some of them liked it because only a small part of the phandom knew about these little places within the world of Dan and Phil, basically making it a place with a lot less of the extreme psychos and the drama llamas.
To be quite honest, I agree. Don't get me wrong, I'm so glad they're famous as I only found out about them when they were. They're awesome people who genuinely deserve all the fame they get because they work really hard on everything they do, and I know for a fact that they genuinely make the lives of so many other people (including myself) a whole lot better. It's just sad to think that they've become so famous that there are people in their fandom who will stir up drama or just be rude and excessively intrusive. It's heartbreaking to think about the arguments and unnecessary drama caused just because some people don't know when they're stepping over the line. There have been incidents where people have been bullied because of this irrational piece of the phandom, and even though I wasn't a part of it in any way, shape, or form, I feel slightly guilty just thinking about it, even though none of it had anything to do with me. Going back to their old, not-as-viewed videos makes me feel happy that there are places with a lot fewer drama llamas and mean people watching, and instead a community of generally awesome people who watch Dan and Phil purely because they make great content and are wonderful people rather than focus on every single person who has a different opinion than them. I'm just tired of those annoying people in general.
These people aren't just in the phandom. They're in pretty much every fandom in existence. If you see one somewhere, please don't argue with them. It's either all they want or completely pointless because they'll just get angrier. If someone does end up getting bullied, remind the victim that they're awesome rather than telling the bully that they suck. By ignoring the drama llamas, the internet can hopefully become a slightly happier place.
I'm all done with my rant/cheesy advice. I'd really like to hear your thoughts about this and anything else I post in my books. I'd like to do these more, but I don't really know if I should keep them all in this book or create a separate one. I was thinking of changing the cover to this:
