We went out to buy groceries later in the night. It didn't take us long to find a Whole Foods in a mall and we were filling the cart with as many things as we could. Soon enough it was overflowing and our receipt reached the ground. As we hauled the grocery bags out I piled on as many as I could onto my arms. Brendon had the remaining few. And by few I mean ten.

"Are you going to need any-?"

I was going to say 'help' but then I realized he didn't. When I turned around he had the rest of the bags hooked on his arms and he looked at ease. I gawked and I realized he wasn't using much strength to lift up the bags. His biceps were perfectly still.

"No, I think I've got it," he said. He grinned and I let out an uneven sigh. What a show-off. But we passed the mall and entered the underground parking lot. We loaded the items into the car and I thought I saw someone watching us from across the parking lot. But when a car passed by and that mysterious person was gone, I simply said I must've been hallucinating.

But the crazy hadn't started until we were back at the house unpacking and Brendon said with slight disappointment, "Oh man, I forgot the milk."

"Classic," I muttered, holding up the carton of eggs that was also in the dairy section. I picked up my bag and the car keys. "I'll go get them."

"Let me go with you," he said.

"No, someone needs to unpack the groceries while the other wears the pants in the relationship," I said with a smirk as I headed out. But then I paused outside and looked back at the door. Did I just say that? That either surprised Brendon or wounded his ego. Oops.

I headed back to the market and it took like five minutes to get into the parking structure since so many cars were leaving. I looked at the time on the dashboard. It was 8:30, and according to the schedule online, the mall closed at 8:50. I hurried and rushed to the market, hurrying down the aisle in search for the milk. I paid for it at the front and then slowly walked back to the car. It was a loaner from the agents since they didn't want anyone recognizing Brendon's tags. But then I thought about it and said, who in Riverside would know Brendon's car tags? There was a possibility but I saw it as likely.

When I stepped out from the elevator I glanced around. There was only one car left on this floor and it was descending the line to exit. I headed towards our car without glancing over my shoulder like I was worried something was after me. I unlocked the car door and put the milk down in the passenger seat. I was about to close the driver door when something latched onto my wrist and a face appeared above mine.

Fangs were exposed and I immediately reached into my bag to whip out my stake but this vampire grabbed my shoulders and hauled me out of the car. I flew across the parking lot and went rolling until I stopped. I pulled myself up into sitting position and stood up. The vampire rushed towards me with raised hands but then I saw the claws that were extending from his fingers. He wasn't a vampire. He was a werewolf. I didn't have a weapon to fight a werewolf.

I looked around me quickly and then took off running. He easily cut the space between us and was right on my tail. I ran frantically, like my life was on the line, and it was. I tore across the remaining space before I reached the crook in the parking aisle. Then I immediately pushed myself off the wall and ran back towards the werewolf. He slowed down and then I slid right underneath him. He swiped his claws at me but I was moving too fast. I scraped the back of my leg and then I scrambled to my feet, stumbling. But I ran all the way towards the car until my lungs were going to burst. Thankfully the car door was still open. I jumped into the seat and grabbed the keys to start the engine. The werewolf wasn't too far from me now so I shoved the key into ignition and it started. I peeled out of the parking structure and then closed my door.
