Chapter 4

"Jen, sweetheart. Wake up." I heard my moms soft voice. I fluttered my eyes open, adjusting slowly to the light.

"Hey." I said, with a small smile. "You fell asleep, it's 6:30, we came back a bit early." She said answering the questions I was about to ask. She smiled and headed towards the kitchens entrance.

"We brought KFC, if you were interested." She said, a smirk plastered on her face as she walked in. I let a small chuckle escape. "K." I said loud enough for her to hear.

I rubbed my eyes a bit hard, to wake myself up. I let out a soft sigh, I fell asleep with my head hanging off of the couch. I took a deep breath and got up. I took my phone out of my pocket to see if anything new was happening While I had passed out.

My heart stopped. Is he trying to kill me? I felt a sensation grow in my stomach. It was weird but so pleasurable at the same time.

I shrugged it off for now and headed out my door, KFC is better than boys, right?

I was walking towards the schools entrance, looking down at my phone. Ignoring the world like I usually do. I was currently texting Mike, giving him tips on how to ask Mary Jane to some stupid dance I knew I wasn't going to be asked to.

"JENNIFER FREAKIN' BEIK! I SAW HIS COMMENT." Jules' voice rang my ears.

"Shut it Julie!" I snapped. Dude it 7:50 am, are you kidding me?

"How can I shut it Jen?! The hottest guy ever, sophomore, 16, us being 15 called you cute." She half whispered half yelled. I shrugged, what's the big deal?

"I'm still 14," I corrected. "My birthday isn't till two months from now." I saw her roll her eyes. "Just don't tell him that, a two year age difference is a huge turn off!" She said, giving me a stern look. "Whatever, you realize that if someone really likes you, they'd do anything for you?" I said, annoyed at how much she was overreacting. "Ugh, watch out Mrs. I believe in true love has arrived." She said as she pushed me lightly. I rolled my eyes at her. What's the big deal, he probably did it to mess with me.

"Julie, why do you even care? It didn't seem like it yesterday when I told you about it." I said as I raised an eyebrow. "Well, my bestie might have a chance at Luke Hemmings. So why not be happy for her right?" She said cooly. "Attention seeker..." I said in a sing-song tone. "Psh! Not even!" She scoffed. I giggled, knowing my best friend; she was actually happy for me.

"You're so bipolar, Jen." She said with a smirk. "Why's that?" I asked knowing what she meant. "Well you where bragging about it last night, and today you're acting like its nothing." She said as we began walking to our first period class.

"I know, I don't think I should freak out about it.. He's probably just messing with me because he noticed I liked him or something like that." I said feeling bad for myself.

"I think you should enjoy it and go along with it." She said as she walked off in a different direction as me.

Maybe I should, and I think I will.
