Epilogue 5

Author's Note; I wrote this after having seen the midnight showing of Captain America: Civil War, such a good film! Definitely a must see. Obviously in this alternative universe where Bucky is working for SHIELD there is no causation for the MCU Civil War. So this is written as though they are divided by the Registration Act as it is in the comics but with the MCU teams. Also the Agents of SHIELD characters are as they were at the end of Season 2. I hope all that makes sense, FanGirl8ygc3804

''The mutant's in the module, but their powers'll manifest very soon. Probably sooner than we anticipated as being shot at and picked up by SHIELD put you under strain, that's what cause powers to surface right?'' Skye now Daisy said to me as we made our way to the hanger bay.

''Yes, see you are learning. Thanks for turning them over.'' I barely got the sentence out before an alarm sounded.

''All non-essential personnel to quarters.''

''I'm essential to help this mutant get a handle on their powers or we could have another Stamford on our hands!'' I shouted over the alarm. Daisy nodded and pointed me to the module on the far side of the hanger. I flew over to avoid the river of evacuating personnel, mid-flight my phone rang. ''No rest for the winged.'' I muttered looking at the caller ID and answering,

''I can't talk right now Steve!''

''Good, because I need you to listen.'' He explained that he'd escaped SHIELD custody and was on the run because he disagreed with the Registration Act when he was asked to bring in those who hadn't been ready to comply.

''As much as love the fact that you're for standing up for our rights as powered people, I can't fight my brother, you know that.'' Tony had been pushing for the Registration Act even though he knew that meant I'd have no choice but to do as the Government asked no matter what I thought or go to jail, so concisely; compliance or captivity. ''Look, I love you, but I gotta go.'' I burnt my phone to a crisp in my hand and skidded to a stop in front of the module. I took a deep breath before turned to face it.

''What the hell is going on?''

''Nothing of any importance to you.'' The kid was 15 maybe younger and looked like he had his own life in his backpack.

''How are you so calm?!'' He asked clearly in a state of panic.

''Because I know what I'm doing.'' Under normal circumstances I'd probably work with this kid and give him some degree of control before I sent him to the Professor but this was so beyond normal, the next set of orders made my mind up for me;

''Strike Team Beta to the main hanger bay.''

''Screw protocol I'm coming inside.'' I let myself in and locked to door from within.

''Captain America is a fugitive from SHIELD, any agents on duty are to ice him on sight.''

''Talk about conflicting instructions,'' I muttered crouching below the observation window, ''you need to get down.''

''I thought this was bulletproof.'' He suggested.

''I don't want to find out, do you?!'' I snapped ''now get down.'' Just then a spray of bullets hit the glass.

''And stay there.'' I peered out behind a telekinetic barrier.

''Um...excuse me?'' I whirled around at the sound of the voice, ready for a fight.

''Nora? How'd you...? Nevermind, what is it?'' I asked, not particularly caring how she's come to be here but thankful I now had a way out, that didn't involve incarceration in my near future.

''Bucky and Cap have gone rogue. SHIELD want them captured or complying--''

''--Because of the Registration Act.'' I finished for her, mopping my face with my hand as I turned away from her. ''Where's the kid?''

''I'm right here.''

''The mechanism that inhibits powers in here must have been knocked offline.'' I groaned. ''You think you can hold that?''

''Not really.''

''Alright, firstly you came to the wrong place you need to go to this location,'' I handed a card out and it promptly disappeared. ''You think you can do that?'' There was silence, ''Please tell me you're nodding?''

''Oh, yes I can get there.''

''You and your magic cards.'' Nora rolled her eyes, ''Guys...sorry to break up the party but we have some crashers.'' She pointed out the window at a group of at least a dozen in full tactical gear.

''That'll be Strike Team Beta, they've been sent to bring me in.'' I presumed based upon the last set of orders.

''Looks like they aren't bothered if you're dead or alive. Take my hands.'' Nora instructed as we watched them get into position with a rocket launcher among their ranks.

''Do as she says.'' I instructed.

''I have.'' Just like that we were somewhere else, a field in the middle of nowhere.

''What the hell?!'' The kid stumbled backwards finally visible again.

''Teleportation, all of this will make sense I promise. Go to the co-ordinates on the card, go up to the big house and ask for the Professor, tell him Elizabeth says hi.'' He nodded.

''Nora, ready for another jump?''

''Sure, Steve's place?'' I shook my head. Tell him to meet me-- you know what nevermind I'll get a burner and contact him, make sure he does the same. I'll use my telepathy to get the number from you, is that OK?'' She nodded as I raked my fingers through my hair, ''I just want to go back to this morning.'' I sighed.

''But we can't, well not yet.'' Nora said. ''I'm gonna meet up with the guys, my guess is they'll go into hiding.''

''Go.''

''Not without you.'' She gave me a hug knowing how stubborn I can be, she wasn't going to waste time arguing.

''You have to, find the guys, help them with this, or don't; it's your call. I can't and that's that.'' I sighed knowing in my head this was right even if my heart told me otherwise, but Steve would understand of that I was sure. ''I'll see you when I can. Give Bucky a hug from me and a punch in the shoulder to remind him of my threat.'' I smiled through the pain of my heart breaking as she teleported away. I took off flying high and fast, trying my best to keep my mind off the fact that my life had disappeared in a morning.
