REYNA SAT QUIETLY at her designated table inside the small venue, waiting patiently for Sebastian to return with a bag of ice for her throbbing ankle. She had taken quite the fall on her way down the press line, which resulted in a twisted and swollen ankle. She was still convinced Sebastian was at fault for the incident, as he had accidentally stepped on the back of her shoe, but he refused to take responsibility for it. Sometimes Reyna could be a bit clumsy, so Sebastian had decided to accept that as the reason she had fallen down in the first place.
Reyna sat patiently, playing with the food on her plate and gazing around at all the guests. She only knew a few of them—Margarita, Sebastian, Emily VanCamp, and numerous Vogue magazine employees. Margarita and Emily were elsewhere, though, Sebastian was off retrieving her ice, and the Vogue employees she spoke to were off working and conversing with other employees, so she was alone for now.
After several more moments of aimlessly looking around the venue, Reyna's gaze fell upon a blond man standing a mere feet away from her, deep in conversation with one of the Vogue employees. She narrowed her eyes as she studied him, her body filling with a peculiar sense of familiarity as she looked him over. She was sure she had seen this man before in her life, but she couldn't bring herself to remember where exactly she had, and it bothered her.
As the man made a move to head passed her, she reached out to grab him, startling him slightly. He turned and looked at her, his eyes widening slightly, though brightening nonetheless.
"I'm so sorry," Reyna spoke quickly as she looked over the features of his face; she was now 100% sure she knew who this person could be. "I just saw you, and you looked familiar, and I just—I'm sorry."
The man smirked at her and took a swig of the drink in his hand. "You're not as shy as you used to be back in school, I'll tell you that," the man chuckled.
Reyna's eyes widened slightly. "So I do know you? I knew it!"
"Yes, but you also seem to have forgotten me as well," the man let out a sigh and sat down in the chair across from her. "I'm Chase—y'know the asshole in high school Sebastian always tried to protect you from?"
"Yes, I actually do remember you," Reyna exclaimed with bright green eyes. "And you weren't exactly an asshole in high school; you were a bit cocky and arrogant, but that's about all."
Chase let out a soft chuckle, taking yet another swig of his drink. "Yeah, Sebastian sure thought so, too."
"What are you doing here? At a Vogue cover party?" Reyna asked with furrowed brows.
"I happen to work for Vogue, Miss Foster," Chase informed her. "I'm a photographer and an editor here."
Reyna hummed in response and grabbed a grape from her plate, throwing it into her mouth before speaking. "Never would've pegged you as a Vogue employee."
"Really?" Chase laughed as Reyna nodded, "and what would you have pegged me as?"
"Maybe a lawyer or one of those stereotypical CEO douchebags," Reyna replied with a low chuckle.
Chase cocked a brow. "I could say the same for you. I never would've imagined that the Reyna Foster could ever end up like this—a famous actress on the cover of one of the world's most popular magazines."
"Well, y'know," Reyna shrugged, smiling down at her plate.
Chase wasn't even given the chance respond before a confused, and slightly possessive Sebastian approached the table, Reyna's bag of ice in his grasp. "I've got your ice, Rey," Sebastian spoke slowly, glancing at Chase before fixing his gaze on his girlfriend.
Reyna looked up at the sound of his voice, her eyes brightening automatically as they met his. She reached out to take the bag from his hand as he sat down beside her, wasting no time at all in applying it to her ankle.
"What's goin' on down there?" Chase asked her, receiving an estranged look from Sebastian.
"I fell and twisted my ankle outside," Reyna informed him.
Chase laughed and finished off his drink. "Reminds me of the time when you tripped over the frame of the door coming out of English class. I'm sure you remember that, too, don't you, Sebastian?"
Sebastian's eyes widened slightly, and he looked at Chase, his cloudy memories becoming clearer and clearer as the seconds passed. It was hard for him to believe that this man in front of him was the one he spent his high school years trying to tolerate. "Chase Robertson?"
"What's up, princess?"
"I haven't seen you in years, man."
Chase shrugged. "Our high school graduation."
"What the hell are you doing here at a Vogue party?" Sebastian asked him.
Reyna laughed. "He works for Vogue; he's an editor and a photographer."
"That's impressive," Sebastian complimented him.
Chase scoffed, stealing a grape off of Reyna's plate. "Not as impressive as being Bucky Barnes and or the great Wanda Maximoff. You guys are great, not to mention relationship goals as fuck. I was a little surprised, though, that it took you two so long to get together. Why is that?"
"Let's just say he was a dick for quite some time before he finally took his fat head out of his ass," Reyna remarked as she sipped at her drink.
Sebastian narrowed his eyes at her before turning to look at Chase. "Okay, maybe I was a dick, but I was a dick because I loved her."
"Not really a valid reason to be a dick, Sebastian," Chase chuckled.
"Thank you, Chase," Reyna exclaimed.
Chase smiled at her, clasping his hands together on the table. "So. . .maybe we could all meet up sometime and do a bit of catching up? I know there's quite a lot I would love to know."
Sebastian and Reyna exchanged glances with other before turning to look back at Chase.
"That actually sounds good, considering you don't seem to be the dick you used to be in high school, but we start shooting in Atlanta for Infinity War in a couple days, so I'm not exactly sure when we would be able to do this catching up of sorts," Sebastian explained to him.
"It's okay," Chase shrugged. "I travel a lot, so I'm sure I'll find myself in Atlanta sooner or later."
Reyna smiled. "Great, then I guess we'll see you in Atlanta."
Chase smirked at the two of them, pushing himself up and out of his chair.
"Perfect."
