Chapter twenty three- message in a bottle

AUSTINS POV

I was packing away the picnic basket when stass called out to me.

"Austin!"

I dropped everything and turned around.

"Yeah what is it?" I questioned her.

"Its getting a bit late... Do you think its time to head home?"

I looked up the sky and yes she was right. Dark grey clouds started to form and there was no longer any sun.

"Nope! We're staying here"

"What do you mean?"

"Got another surprise!" I winked, leaving her in frustration since she had no clue what i was up to.

It was already 8 pm and stass and I were still at the beach. It was completely dark and the moon was the only light. We keep walking to where i was taking her. No one was here. Just her and i out in this special night. Couldn't ask for anything better.

I saw a faint glow of the fire and i knew we were close.

"Austin where are we going?" Stass whined.

"Stass hush! We're close"

We walked a couple more steps and finally arrived the spot were i set up a bonfire.

"A bonfire!!" Stass squealed.

"Yes! Surprise!"

We sat down by the fire and wrapped the blanket on us. I tried to get stass as warm as i could so i cuddled closer and tighter to me.

"I thought this day couldn't get any better. Thank you. "

"Nope thats where you were wrong" i slightly pinched her cheek which made her giggle.

"Remember when you wanted to have a bonfire at beach?"

I just watched as she nodded her head.

"Well here we are.... You can now tick that off your list"

"You remember a lot of things!"

"Of course! How can i forget something you said. I just want to me make you happy." I kissed her softly on top of her forehead.

The fire glowing reflected a smile from stass's face. "You make me happy. You make me feel like the happiest person on earth"

"Did you know that our friendship is like fire?"

Her eyebrows slightly scrunched together. "What do you mean?"

"You see we have our ups and down. We fight then we make up and that makes our friendship stronger. Thats like fire. Sometimes it goes out and loses it sparks but then it comes back brighter than ever."

"You know i really never thought of that.." She was silenced for a minute.

"Stass see those stars?" I pointed to the sky.

She just nodded.

I stared into her eyes. "Your eyes are like the stars, i could star gaze at them."

And i swear i saw her eyes sparkled for a second before a tear fell. I tucked her hair behind her ear and wiped her tear.

"Well your smile is brighter than those stars. Nothing can compare" she whispered in my ear.
