Chapter 4

Rose POV

It's been 2 days since Jake and I were at Jimmy's pizza palace. Since then everything's been good but Melanie and Jake continue to talk. I don't know what his intentions are with her but I can already tell that Melanie started to fall in love and it's only been 4 days. Crazy right? I have no idea how she fell in love that quickly but that's on her.

"Hello Rose!" Vic waves in my face.

"Oh I'm sorry I was spaced out"

"What were you thinking about?" She asks.

"Oh nothing just about Melanie" I say.

"Well then, let me know when you're ready so I can take you home." She says walking upstairs. Today I go back to my  house, I really don't want to but, I guess I have to. I go upstairs and pack the rest of my clothes. After I'm done I go back downstairs and wait for Victoria in the living room. After 5 minutes of scrolling down my newsfeed on Instagram, I hear Vic walk down the stairs.

"Alright let's go" she says while grabbing her keys and heading out the door. I grab my stuff and follow behind her into her car. As soon as she's done locking the door she climbs in her car and drives off.

"So how's Melanie and Jake?"

"I honestly don't know" I respond.

"I talked to Jake, he says he doesn't want her" she says quietly.

"Wow" I reply shocked. I honestly don't know what to say, how am I suppose to tell this to Melanie?

"We're here" she says

"Okay thank you for the ride" I say as I head out the car with my bag.

"Bye" Vic yells while driving away.

I walk towards my door and open it to find my mom on the floor with her boyfriend hovering her hitting her repeatedly. I had to say something, I've never had the courage to say something to him but enough is enough, she is my mom and no matter what she has done to me I will always love her and protect her.

"STOP IT!" I yelled. He stopped hitting her and snapped his head towards me looking at me with crazy eyes.

"Aw is someone protecting their pathetic mommy" he says.

"You don't talk about her like that" I spat. He then slowly walks towards me.

"Say that again" he said slowly.

"Don't talk about my mother like that" I spat again. "If anyone is pathetic it's you" I then added. As soon as I said those words I fell to the floor cupping me cheek. He slapped me. He really slapped me and my mom just sat there and watched.

"ARE YOU NOT GOING TO SAY ANYTHING" I asked my mom.

"You should've never said anything" she replies.

"ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING, HE JUST SMACKED ME AND YOUR RESPONSE IS I SHOULD'VE NEVER SAID ANYTHING? I TRIED DEFENDING YOU BUT YOU STILL CHOOSE HIM? IF YOU CHOSE HIM OVER ME THEN IM GONE" I yell at her as I stand up and run up the stairs to my room. As I grab another gym bag I had lying around and I start packing my clothes in it, I start sobbing. Seriously, how is someone going to choose their boyfriend over their own daughter, their own blood, I feel worthless right now. I just don't want to be here anymore.

Once I'm done I grab my stuff and run downstairs, before I close the door behind me I call for my mom.

"And one more thing Anne, don't expect to hear from me for a while" I said then slammed the door. I started walking towards the nearest park which is a five minute walk. Along the way I just stop and start crying all over again, what am I suppose to do now? I left because my mom betrayed me, I can't stay in a house where my own mom chose someone else over me. There's only one person I know I can call. Victoria. I pull out my phone from my pocket and dial her number.
