A Confession

Chapter 4

Kayla's POV

I was walking next to Evan quietly as the others made chit chat, I would occasionally see Sam or Austin glance over at me but they knew better than to bring me into the conversation. Suddenly someone spoke to me and broke my train of thought.
"Uh hey Kayla?" I look up and I see Dan now walking by my side, I smile and look down as my cheeks heat up. "Hey Dan.." I mumble shyly. His smile grows and tells me something shocking. "You look really good, like, you look stunning." He scratches the back of his neck as his own cheeks redden, I shake my head slightly. "Thank you, bu-" I cut myself off not wanting to have a bad impression on him so I just smile back at him and we walk in a comfortable silence until we reach the restaurant.

We found a large round table and sat in this order: (left to right and around...) Me, Evan, Josh, Sam, Austin, Phil and Dan. I was mentally squirming as I spoke in hushed tones to Evan at how Dan was sitting next to me. "Oh my gods... We've only been this close three other times.." I whisper to him and gives me a confused look, "Three? I thought it was just two.." I blush deeply and reply shyly. "Oh yeah... One time at VidCon I accidentally tripped over something and missed him by a centimetre and ended up on the floor.." He chuckles lightly and tells me to just bring up a conversation with him. So that's what I do, I turn and angle my body towards Dan who was fiddling with his fingers trying to refrain from using his phone as everyone else made conversation. 

I take a deep breath and begin, "Hey Dan..." He lifts his head and looks at me with a beautiful smile. "Hey Kayla, how are you?" My eyes light up slightly and I smile, "I'm good, thanks, yourself?" He merely nods, "Oh I'm good too, thank you.." Come on, talk to him! "So, umm, I don't mean to sound odd but I've seen your YouTube videos and I'm a pretty big fan..." I blush as I tell him skipping the part that I too was a YouTuber. "Oh really, heh, thanks. I do try.." He flips his imaginary hair back like a diva which makes me giggle, then his face falls and he face palms. "You're a YouTuber too, aren't you? I've heard that you're really good.. I've never had the chance to watch one but yeah..." He stutters and I smile softly at him, "Yeh, I do the occasional video but I'm not really big or anything.." I scratch my arms anxiously. "What kind of videos do you make?" He asks me and my face lights up, no ones ever really wanted to know more about me... "Oh, I usually just do challenges, talks, gaming... And uhh, I sing and play the guitar so I do a few covers and originals..." I blush deeply but he still showed signs of interest. "That's awesome! I really should check you out... You know, would you like to make a collab with me?-Oh and maybe Phil too.."

It was his turn to blush and I instinctively put my hand on his and smile. "I'd love to..." He sighs in relief and then we're both pulled back into reality when our food arrives.

Evan's POV

I watched Kayla and Dan as they conversed and I smile mentally but I was broke off by the food arriving as well as Josh shaking my shoulder. I turn around to face him and he doesn't look to well, "Josh, are you okay?" I ask worry visible on my face. He nods but shakes his head at the same time, "M-my ex boyfriend's girlfriend... He must be here too, Evan... He was abusive...", his face is drained from colour and I feel anger boiling beneath my skin. "That asshole..." I growl looking down at my clenched fists.
