"A new company would never hurt."

“You must be Paz!” An old man exclaimed opening the door.

“Yes I am actually.” I laughed getting inside.

“Pleasure to meet you dear, I’m Harry’s and Annabelle’s Grandfather, Adam.” He said offering his hand to shake in which I gladly did.

“Pleasure’s all mine sir.” I smiled.

“Dad!” Anne yelped getting closer to where we stood. “You should be resting!”

“All I did was greet the guest, relax.” He sighed.

“Hello dear, how are you?” Anne asked sweetly motioning for us to come further inside.

“I’m good thanks, how are you?”

“All good.” She smiled.

“Paz!” Annabelle’s little voice screamed from across the room. She made her way over to me running and I held her putting her in my lap.

“How are you?” I asked kissing her cheek.

“Vely good.”

“Did mummy do this beautiful braid for you?” I pointed to her hair.

She shook her head no, smiling. “Then who did?” I questioned feeling dumbfounded.

“Hally did.” She whispered resting her head on my chest and shutting her eyes close.

“Do you want to sleep?” I asked softly.

“Yes.”

“Don’t you want to eat?”

She replied with a soft ‘no’ and then fell asleep apparently. I chatted with Anne and her father until footsteps were heard and I looked up to find Harry putting his shirt and walking down the stairs. I adverted my gaze back to his grandfather who was telling us one of his many stories from his high school days. It was nice to hear someone his age remember all the memories back when they were my age and how they spent it. He talked with so much passion and desire to go back to those days and it made me smile a lot.

“Well it’s nice for you to finally wake up mister.” Anne scolded Harry jokingly.

“Sorry mum, I was really tired.” He said kissing her forehead and sitting on the couch.

“I know baby its okay but I don’t think this young girl over here would like to spend her time with two old people.” She laughed looking at me.

“Actually I don’t really mind at all.” I smiled.

“So you’re saying you want me to go back upstairs so you could be alone with them?” Harry smirked.

I scowled at him ignoring his previous statement and focusing back on his grandpa who was laughing quietly to himself at his grandson’s behavior. Harry looked at him and gave him a wink with his dimples on full show. I smiled at the sight; this was all too cute.

“Dinner is ready!” Spoke Anne from the kitchen. I hadn’t even noticed she got up; I was too busy watching Harry joke around with his grandfather.

“Where should I put Annabelle?” I asked.

“I’ll put her in her room.” Harry stated getting up and carrying her to the room. I made my way to the kitchen and took a seat on the chair. A few minutes later Harry joined us and was sat next to me.

I told them all about my day with Annabelle and I swear I could see Harry’s lips twitch upwards when I told them that she farted two times when I had a student. Grandpa Adam, as he told me call him, laughed so hard he had to stop eating and clutch his stomach. Anne laughed a lot as well but was worried about her father’s health, claiming he laughed too much she’s afraid he’ll get hurt. Harry didn’t speak the entire time though he smiled a for a few moments but he still looked like he had his mind elsewhere.

“I’m sorry what?” He asked confused.

“I asked if you could pass me the salad please.” Anne repeated what she had said only a few minutes ago.

“Yeah sure sorry.” He mumbled passing her the salad.

“How old are you Paz?” Grandpa Adam asked.

“I’m eighteen almost nineteen.” I replied with a smile.

“Oh, what are you majoring in?”

“Actually, I’m taking BA drawing courses.”

“That’s nice; I’ll have to see your drawings then.” Anne said.

“Of course.” If you’d like to see your son drawn.

Dinner went well and the food was great. Harry still didn’t speak and I was slightly worried about him. Even though I shouldn’t be, but I just am.

We were back in the living room, Grandpa Adam went for a nap and Anne was doing the dishes. She declined any help from me. So it was just Harry and I now.

“Hey, you okay?” I asked nervous of his reaction. After all, I barely knew him.

“I am.” He nodded. “Why asking?” He later added.

“Nothing important, you just seemed a bit disturbed.”

He nodded smiling slightly and shaking his head. The room grew silent after a few moments and neither of us uttered a word until he spoke again, “Thanks.”

“What for?” I looked at him confused.

“Checking up on me. You see, I’ve been stressed for a long time now and my family just stopped asking after a while; they got used to it. So thanks for the concern.”

I wanted to ask him more about it but I closed my mouth shut. “Anytime.”

“Anyone wants tea?” Anne asked later on.

“I’ll have a cup please.” I smiled.

“I’ll have one too please. Oh and Paz likes it just like I do; two sugar spoons.” Harry chuckled.

Anne raised her eyebrows in suspicion and nodded before going back to the kitchen to do the cups.

“Hey, you remembered!” I laughed looking at Harry.

“Well yeah.” He shrugged smiling.

“Thanks for the dinner it was lovely! And Harry, I promise you next time I’m winning in Scrabble.” I smiled waving goodbye.

“We’ll see about that.” He laughed.

I went back home and found Steve’s car parked outside. But honestly, right now I couldn’t care less. I had a good day and he won’t be ruining it. I opened the front door with my spare key and closed it behind me. Going up the flight of stairs I changed into sweats and a random t-shirt and entered my bed. Apparently, my mum was too busy talking to Steve to notice me enter. How nice eh? I blocked the sounds of laughter coming from downstairs and drifted to sleep.
