Meeting Albus Severus

Chapter two; Al.

Al. watched his sister and parents disappear from sight before following his cousin Rose and brother James.

"Bit odd, don't you think Al. We have always been dreamed about going to Hogwarts, and finally we are going." Rose said to him while looking out of the window "Mum gave me seven galleons for the trolley. How much do you have?"

"Ten. Ro?" Al. said looking to his cousin "I am scared. I really want to be in Gryffindor but what if I get Slytherin?"

With kindness Rose looked at him "Al., I am scared too. But I guess we just have to be hopeful for Gryffindor. Don't worry. Would you like an exploding Bon Bon?"

"Sure. Those are one of my favorites." Al. reached for one of the candies as it exploded. Both kids laughed.

"I know they are one of your favorites. I asked Mum for some for that reason." Rose smiled at her cousin.

After that the two sat in silence until the lunch trolley came along.

Rose jumped up for the food. Al. chuckled, that girl was dead smart but always hungry. She had inherited her mother's brains and father's stomach. He got up an walked over to the trolley and bought a box of Berty Botts Every Flavor Beans, two Pumpkin Pasties, a Cauldron Cake, and a chocolate wand and three chocolate frogs. They ate for about a half an hour then dressed into their robes. Al. watched Rose tuck her wand into the wand pouch on the inside of the outer robe, he did the same.

"Well Al. we can wait. Let's eat some more." Rose said. She began eating.

Al. watched the the trees go by and nervously nibbled on his chocolate wand.

"I already have Merlin, wanna trade?" Rose asked breaking the silence.

Al. looked down at his chocolate frog cards and said, "Sure, do you want Berty Bott?"

"Yeah, OK." Rose replied happily. She handed her cousin the chocolate frog card. After that they fell into silence till the end of the trip. When they got there Al. heard Hagrid the gamekeeper at Hogwarts calling for the the first years.

"Firs' years! This way firs' years!"

Al. had already met Hagrid but he still couldn't get over the fact that Hagrid was a half giant and absolutely huge. He was about seven feet tall, he was nowhere near close to the average height of a giant.

"Firs' years! Firs' years this way."

Al. and Rose followed the crowd of first years and walked towards the docks.

"Hold this young man." Hagrid said and handed the lantern to a a first year boy with blond hair. Hagrid threw a net off of the boats.

"Alrigh' three to a boat." Hagrid called out to the kids following him, he took up his own boat.

Rose pulled Al. after her into a boat at the rear of the procession.

Looking around and making sure that everyone was in a boat Hagrid said "Forward!"

The boats gave a small lurch and started forward.

Al. watched the boats go in a little parade across the water towards the castle.

"Ye'll get yer firs' look o' the castle in jest a sec." Hagrid called out to the first years.

There was a sound as if loads of muggle tires were loosing their air as the all of the first years gasped at the sight of the magnificent castle. The boats made the way toward a little cave where they all got out of the tiny little row boats and followed Hagrid up the path to the castle.
